Spring Moab Boogie?
Part of my yearly routine now includes a trip out west to the bridge and Moab in April. It sounds like a number of other people do as well and as far as I know the only "events" are the MOAB and Turkey boogies.

Long story long, my buddy Kev (from Ogden) and I were thinking it would be killer to get a spring event started. He coined The Easter Bunny Boogie but that's up for debate haha. Obviously I'm pretty new to the sport and am not a local so I wanted to put it out there and see what people thought and if (the locals) had any suggestions.

With the amount of people who take time off and travel out that way it would be great to see us get stupid together. Organization is not our strong point but at least it might get us talking about it.

I would suggest not planning it over easter weekend March 31st to April 8th. Big Jeep safari weekend, super busy and crowded around Moab.

I am sure you wont have any problem finding someone to jump with out there. I was out there a few months ago, I called Apex & they put me in touch with some folks. That place is amazing, such good people & so many exit points...

I am definitely going back.

im in for a spring trip if you can convince my fiance that moab is a fine place to go on our honeymoon (i already tried the "its just like a beach, withouth the ocean" argument).

There's a beautiful muddy river to bask on the shore of and what could be more romantic than driving an overloaded truck full of jumpers out of Mineral Bottom?! I also hear the mangina comes out of hibernation that time of year.

That's what the Moab board of tourism tells me anyway.

Re: [kehuston] Spring Moab Boogie?
I've been to Moab twice when it coincidentally happened to be Jeep week. It had pros and cons. a big con is that lodging/camping was both expensive and a pain in the neck. a pro is that, if you like off-roading, there is lots for entertainment value, and if you are lucky you might even witness a redneck wrecking their expensive ride. and the town was generally lively.

Somewhat more significantly, another con is that, at least on my trips, it was horrendously windy. almost every day, all day long during that time of year.

speaking only for myself, i would consider it a waste of time to go in the spring, specifically to jump. but if i was in the neighborhood i would probably try to swing by opportunistically.

Re: [Colm] Spring Moab Boogie?
Like Colm said - Spring is typically a windy time of the year - with cold fronts still dropping down and the land starting to heat up - it can blow 20+ for a couple days at a time. Usually first or second week in May it will start to chill out a bit.
