Split off: Nepal BASE
I am Kumar from Nepal, extreme mountainous country in south Asia. Here are lots of extreme earth cliffs and rocks which are very suitable and exiting for BASE Jumping. Personally I am very interested in BASE jumping and there has not been single BASE jumping in Nepal and no jumper has ever experienced extreme jumping in mountains of Nepal. I would like to invite all enthusiastic professional jumpers all over the world to come Nepal and try BASE jumping here. I have identified 3 Cliffs so far. nevertheless, here are thousands of such extreme cliffs here.

here are the photographs of those 3 cliffs I have identified. these are google earth photos. among those there I have been to point 1 and point 2.point 1 is 1700 M high from river, point 2 is 1400 meter high and point 3 is 2000 meter high.
Please contact me. lettersforkumar@gmail.com or ph. no. 9779841820856 Cheers!! long live BASE Jumping !!

Great first post Kumar, Namaste!
Way to do your homework and
start by offering something to
the BASE community.

There is a slim chance I might
come to your country in 2012
to do a high altitude tandem
for a wealthy friend with more
money than brains.

If this comes to pass I will
definitely bring a BASE rig.

Re: [GreenMachine] Swagatam
Thank you GreenMachine for you concern and Namaste too. I feel good to hear about your chance to visit Nepal for high altitude tandem. that is even exiting. give me a message as soon as you find yourself in Nepal, then we will definitely meet to start exploring BASE in here. and yes, also please convey this open invitation to all of your friends who love BASE jumping in extreme places inside Nepal. who knows there might be some crazies who just pack their gears and fly tomorrow for Nepal. ;)
and how about the photographs of 3 points I had identified? did you look them? what do you think about them?

Re: [Climatelamichhane] Swagatam
Yes, I did look at your attachments.

Number 3 looked high, shear & sweet
but honestly, out of my 39 objects
only 1 was an E or Cliff so really I
am not the best person to ask.

There are plenty of guys and gals on
here with more Earth experience than
me who will contribute in due time.

Re: [GreenMachine] Swagatam
Thank you very much. we will surely be in regular touch and i will keep identifying more interesting cliffs. hopefully i will get feedback from more friends here.

take care. :)

Re: [Climatelamichhane] Swagatam
You should open your own threda with Nepal in the headline. I don't think that many people will suggest possible exit points in nepal in this thread called "Texas". Btw I like point 3...it looks sweet even this point of view doesn't clearify 2000m to the river...but looks definitly jumpable. To bad I won't be in nepal shortly. Have fun and take care!

Re: [Marcus_B] Swagatam
Marcus_B thank you a lot. I thought to post that in new heading but as i am new in this forum, i dont know how to create new thread. oh yes I am sorry for that the point three is actually about 800 meter high from river valley. thaks lot for pointing that. i did miscalculation. the river is 3030 M from seal level and the cliff-top is 3814M from sea level. heights of point 1 and 2 are correct.

Re: [Climatelamichhane] Split off: Nepal BASE
I lived in Nepal 1996-1998, my parents were working on the Khimti Hydropower Plant. I was a child and not jumping then and haven't been back since but I might be planning a trip in 2012. Your post is very interesting and inspiring. I will definitely contact you if I am going. In what region of Nepal are those cliffs?

Re: [Heat] Split off: Nepal BASE
one question I may have is the LZ, looks like it could be rather formidable.
Shortcut
Re: [godfrog] Split off: Nepal BASE
You say that because
you are not a BASE jumper.

No offense sir, but fact is what
we find decent, many see as
un-landable.

Re: [Heat] Split off: Nepal BASE
Thank you Heat
nice to hear you stayed in Nepal for 2 years. And you might have felt this land is heaven for BASE Jumpers. The extremeness you find here is very different that anywhere else. I am looking you forward to be here with all your gears and guts to jump in extreme mountain cliffs.
Cheers.

Didn't say unlandable, said formidable, I'm not puffing up here but realize I'm not a swooper, I like accuracy, sink them in!
I guess I consider alot of options when I look at something, Kinda in my nature. Work out all possibilities I can, good and bad.

Re: [godfrog] Split off: Nepal BASE
Friends I think our action must be guided on the base of facts.
The river valley, beneath the Point 3, is about 1 KM on length and 70-140 Meters wide. The bank is almost sandy and only very few spots are rocky. This is indeed a challenge and I think BASE Jumpers are not so weak-hearted ;)

Re: [Climatelamichhane] Split off: Nepal BASE
How about this wall friends? Nepal is even excellent place for high altitude base jumper. This wall is around 8 hundred meter high from the glacier which provides excellent smooth LZ.

What are the odds of getting a chopper in there?
Shortcut
Re: [udder] Split off: Nepal BASE
yes you can get their by chopper as well as by foot. its up to your budget. places like these are recommended for mountaineering + BASE Jumping. if you are interested in making world record of jumping from high altitude, Nepal can offer you plenty of such spots.

and look at this photograph. The jumping point is at 6680 Meter and it is around 950 Meter high wall from the smooth glacier which offers excellent LZ.

cheers.

Point 1 and 2 lie closer to each other. they are at Gorkha District. Point 3 lies at Mustang District. All of theme are at Western Nepal.

Re: [Climatelamichhane] Split off: Nepal BASE
I was in nepal in 2008 checking out cliffs, and climbed island peak, up to 6189 metres , on the side of everest, there are definately cliffs there to be jumped in that region but fuck me it wil be hard to get the logistics in there, i am guessing asking the people who are doing the tandem skydive over everest (well not really over everest) but near namche bazarre village about costs...

i wish i had a few thousands to throw around i found a shitload of exits over there, in my 2-3 months cruising around.....

but never had my rigs.

good luck to anyoe heading over... would be interested in information

Re: [MBA-PATTO] Split off: Nepal BASE
Bumping an old thread on an 8+ hr layover. Hopefully this will be useful to somebody sometime.

After spending almost 4 weeks in the Khumbu. And wondering before my trip if it was worth bringing a rig for occasional jump opportunities... The answer to that question, at least in that region, is probably "no" for most jumpers. Rest assured to leave your rig at home and be satisfied with just your camera and climbing gear. You will have quite enough to do as it is.

Yes there are a few jumpable cliffs near the main trail, mostly unimpressive slider down jumps with challenging access and poor landing areas. There are occasionally impressive spots in a few places, but would require some concerted combination of time, physical conditioning, helicopter access, and/or expedition resources. Also how good are you landing your tarp at 16,000'

Glad I left the rig at home this trip. Feel free to PM if you have specific questions, or want leads for a jumping-specific trek (not that I have many to offer)

Re: [Colm] Split off: Nepal BASE
I would say, leave all this to Valery Rozov Wink
Shortcut
Re: [Colm] Split off: Nepal BASE
I agree! I just spent 3 months in Nepal (without a rig) and didn't really see anything that was worth having one for! If you visit Pokhara it's pretty easy to organize PG jumps, but you're (typically) only going to get 300m-500m!

2 jumpers did open a 400' cliff in the Mustang region while I was there though!

Hi Kumar, I am heading to Nepal in about a month. I saw your thread and am very interested to know if anything has changed since this time. Any of these spots or others been opened since the post began? Thank you

Re: [icarus72] Split off: Nepal BASE
Hi icarus72 I have been out of Nepal for a year. But so far I know things are still favourable and you can enjoy as much as you want. These places are as they were, great and exiting. You can ask me specific question if you have any. I can help you while you are in Nepal.

Re: [Climatelamichhane] Split off: Nepal BASE
Wow, thanks for the response. As for specifics...? Any details as to whats been jumped, terminal and under? Ease or difficulty in finding or approaching exit point locations and getting out of the LZ? I will be traveling w/ my girlfriend, who is not a base jumper, but an avid hiker. If there are any you know of that are easier/quicker to meet someone left at the top. Thanks again
I also know there are a few companies doing tandem paragliding trips, and am curious as to wether anyone has asked them of the possibility of jumping from such.

Re: [icarus72] Split off: Nepal BASE
Hi i suggest you this point easy to access in comparison to other, fine LZ, entry and exit and lie in popular place. This place comes in 3-4 hrs drive from Jomshom. You can fly to jomshom from Pokhara which you can easily find after you reach Kathmandu. Youcan pick up a helper from jomshom who can take you to the cliff. Nepali people are so friendly and helpful. I am at work now so the photograph is taken from my ifone. I can give you more detail about exact coordinate of cliff. The cliff is around 800 m high i guess. Lets communicate via email lettersforkumar@gmail.com is mine.
