Bridge that has 2 pillars, both different LZ's, plus an LZ for the span itself...how many of you would count the pillars as seperate objects?
Just curious as to what people count as objects, if there are multiple ways to jump, say, a bridge. If the pillars had their own exit point and LZ, which most do, who would count that as a separate object?

what would the objects be for "OTHER" BASE. pillars, cranes, silos, stacks, rollercoasters etc?..

EDIT- I'd call it a bridge pillar personally.

If you jump an A which is guyed in 3 directions to all possible sectors (3 different directions and therefore different LZ´s), do you count it as one or three different objects?

Only if the bridge spans a state boundary line, with one pillar in one state and one in the other. Smile

Seriously, no way. That's like counting all the platforms on an Antenna as different objects.

But since all of our numbers are only for ourselves, I don't think it really matters what anyone else counts.

Same object, different exit points. That's how I would log it.

So would I. Just curious as to what other people think. I personally log the pillars and the bridge as the same object.

I think that is a lot different in my opinion. You are still jumping the antenna itself. Thats like saying jumping the darkside of the bridge compared to the normal side is a different object.
Im talking about getting under a bridge, walking to another ladder, downclimbing to the concrete pillar, and exiting from a now solid object. I can see the argument both ways on this, and I think could go either way myself.

I call it the (whichever side) pillar. They get logged as pillars or bridge pillars. It's part of the same structure but it's tough to call it a span when it actually holds up the span.

I've jumped em both. Cool visuals with all that concrete behind you. Yeah really doesnt seem like you're jumping part of a span. I logged as ****** Bridge Pillar...went under an S for me.

I would call it a BASE jump.

Interesting as I was thinking about this the other day driving home from Moab. There are quite a few exit points out there, are they all separate objects, or do you encompass them all as "MOAB"? I imagine there are many similar instances in regard to other areas around the world, Norway & Swiss Vally for example. I personally feel that an area, like Moab, where every exit point is pretty much the same, subterminal cliff jumps, should be considered one object with many different exit points.
I guess the argument could sway in a different way, consider an area with many similar antennas in close proximity, are they all different objects then?

It is kind of a pointless argument as it is all just bragging rights anyway. Its not like logging flight hours, nobody gets rich BASE jumping...

Yes, we know that you go either way SLAMBO!

And yes. It is to be counted as: The Foresthill Bridge on Auburn Ravine road just south of HWY 80 in the sierra foothills East of California's capital city, no matter where you jump off of it. It is awesome how much variety that span has to offer, and how like so many California BASE sites, it is incredibly resilient to frequent busts, use and abuse!

What are you talking about, you cant jump the forest hill bridge. Everyone knows some asshole fucked it up for everyone last month when he got stuck in a tree, rescued and arrested. The newly formed neighborhood watch is trolling for "jumpers with backpacks" (they let the ones without jump, they're just commiting suicide after all and cost the tax payers nothing Crazy...) and will certainly call the cops if the see you. The only place to BASE jump from now are the pillars, which are totally seperate objects under the foresthill bridge and are not being watched by the neighborhood!!!

He definitely prefers the dark side though. He gets a sad on if you judge his lifestyle, so I'll respectfully hold my comments.

Does the dark side have anything to do with something called the Black Tower?

BTW... the ladder is still down

Darkside is term for the upriver side of the bridge. The opposite side from what is normally jumped.

That was a poorly executed attempt at humor. I know what the darkside is :)

1. Dude not cool site naming!!!! I thought I was the only one who knew about this bridge.

2. I personally log the pillars together as one object because they have a totally different approach, exit, and landing then the bridge itself.

3. Slambo is so gay he makes richard simmons look butch
