Where else would I be?
First off, I just wanted to say "hi." Secondly: I have no BASE jumping experience and no skydiving experience. With this said, I'm sure many of you are wondering what the hell I'm doing here. Well, I guess you could say I'm here because I know myself. For years I lived in fear, suppressing my needs and natural proclivities. I've been afraid of being me for the sake of others. I survived Leukemia, and this gift of life has sprouted in me an intense desire to LIVE. Yet, for 10 years this passion for life has been a slave to the shackles of fear.
Again, many of you are probably thinking I'm just another newbie clown who's here today and gone tomorrow--directing my attention to the next new thing as quickly as the winds change. You may be right, you may be wrong. Not everyone is right for BASE jumping...but who can say so without first having the interest and trying it out?
I'm here as part of my long slow path in bettering myself by learning new techniques and skills. I'm here to get to know others, and I'm here to fill that emptiness that has been gnawing at me for years.
I can't say with absolute certainty that the winds of my desires won't focus my gaze elsewhere; but if I know myself at all, I know I've come to the right place at the right point in my life.
