Skydive Numbers, Why?
I have had a few drinks tonight and have been scrolling around, and I have noticed alot of people keep asking how many skydives they need to start BASE or saying I'm gona get my 150 skydives then do a jump course. I have just barely dipped a toe in the water of skydiving with only 15 jumps and I'm interested in BASE as my ultimate goal and I'm in no rush to act like I'm ready and end up a statistic. Skydiving is an amazing sport, why not take your time, enjoy falling 14,000 feet and get as much canopy time as you can, before jumping 800 feet with only seconds to react with instinct, when you have to time and altitude to be safe. Quit getting a number in your head to blind you instead of actually being smart about it. Then again it is your life your talking about.

We tend to throw around a number because it is a shortcut to describe a certain skill set.

Focusing on the numbers can be counterproductive.

I've seen people with a thousand skydives who are poorly prepared for BASE.

Instead of focusing on a number of skydives, focus on specific skills which will be important in BASE.
