Re: [wasatchrider] Where is the Largest Concentration of BASE jumpers in the US?
Heath, your statement:
"as far as first timers go the perrine has a lot better landing zone and friendlier water"
I disagree. while both sites are perfect for a first base jump, I believe that New River Gorge on bridge day is a friendlier place to make your first jump than twin falls, and I have thrown a lot of inexperienced first timers off of my bridge in Idaho.
The New River Gorge is nearly twice as high, and with 6 totally dialed in rescue boats ready to pull you out of the water, I don't think the water can get much friendlier.
Extra altitude allows first timers those extra moments to gain/ regain stability before pitching and they get more time in the air so they must enjoy it more. Plus that platform is sweet and you got people there to check your gear and stuff. Unbeatable environment for first time jumpers. Really great. That was the best part of my bridge day experience; seeing all the first timers throw out perfect safe base jumps, very cool.
Oh, and you should go skydiving more old buddy, its fun and it will prepare you for the really fun stuff.
