Are base jumpers superspicious?
Does the strenth to jump come from confidance in training and being current,or if something feels wrong but you cant put your finger not it,would that abort the jump?

As my mentor Steve Morrell, BASE 174, told me in 1992, "It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you."

I usually carry my lucky ex-wife's foot on the keychain though to ward off bad luck.

No, I think he meant 'superidiot'

yes. jonnyomalley based on your posts, you appear to be a super idiot. You are going to be a fine base jumper, you already know how to post, and that's 90% of virtual base jumping..

Pussies BIG. ten-7-T-2

Lol thanks jdatc.I take it your a real base bad boy then.I like the arrogant way you just put that out there, but it only makes me suspicious that you could infact be a virtual jumper.Im not claiming to be a base jumper,If i had the money,i would be.And pretty soon i will be a £200 fixed line jumper.so kiss my a hole and jog on!

I wish someone had told me that all it takes to base jump is money. I could have avoided a whole bunch of hard, yet rewarding work.

Re: [jonnyomalley] Are base jumpers superspicious?
Not at all superspicious. But I've had a couple bad feelings and just climbed down for no real reason, other than the fact 'it just wasn't right'

For the record it's static line course not fixed line jumper. I'm assuming that's what you meant? They are around £200. (or £100 if your in the trade!!!!)

If I had the 'money' I would buy a V4 and fly it better than Robi. I think you mean if you spent years training and gathered the necessary skills along the way you could be starting base. Is that what you meant or do you really think that if you had 'money' you would be a base jumper. Of course you could just go do base, that would make you a base jumper. Just not a very good one : )

Johnny Omalley where you doing the course?

BASE jumping is cheap. Its the time and dedication that's the hard part(for some people). If you have dedication and willing to put in the time, then money will not stop you because its less money than a car and everyone can afford one of those if they want to.

I've averaged out how much money I've spent on my dirt bike and BASE and for me, dirt biking is about double per month when compared to BASE (minus travel expenses). Just to give you a perspective...

You're is short for You Are versus
Your as in Jonny, Your English Sucks!

FYI - Justin aka JDATC is a real smart
ass and 100% Real deal BASE jumper!

Keep in mind, the BASE community is
world wide but small and tight knit so
must of us either know each other or
have a mutual friend.

It is the trolls, wanna-be's & newbies
who may or may not be full of shit,
hence our suspicion.

ha ha ha he started it.that was always my excuse at school . Which i didnt go to much,as you can see with my spelling. I thought he could be the real deal, with his arrogance, but he has me pegged wrong,im not a troll,My real name is john omalley.I am now obsessed with base. And it wasnt base that got me into base.It was standing on the edge of the north face of nevis.I know that sounds crazy, but thats why i started looking at base jumping.I really had the urge to jump off the fucker, and i dont mean in a suicidal way,i mean...in a what a fuckin buzz way. When i got to the edge,i felt a cold hand had reached in and grab hold of my heart.thats the only way i can explain it.Please feel free to comment. ha ha I think its best if i keep the wing suit dreams to myself.

i beg to differ... base is not cheap at all. in fact its way more expensive then skydiving for me at least.

i spend so much more money on gas driving my truck around scoping out shit then on jump tickets.

i also have spent lots of money on other travel expenses like flights, hotels, beer.

I recently found a 200 ft tower i want to free fall so i spent more money an a PC thats appropriate for the jump.

way more expensive then skydiving. at least after the initial AFF thing.Tongue

Re: [SubTerminallyill] Are base jumpers superspicious?
I agree that travel costs can easily make this an expensive sport, but it doesn't have to be. I was talking about cost MINIMUMS. Maybe someone lives right next to a bunch of objects.

A lot of times when people bitch that something is TOO expensive, they are really saying that they just don't want it.

+1 BASE is way more expensive than many people think it is. A lot of the cost is in traveling. Or the costs of ruining all of your personal relationships because you half ass everything so you can stay out all night base jumping.

Be careful (duh) with your 200' FF. Every time I think about doing that, I look at video of people doing it and change my mind!

Jonny,

How about a progress report? I'm not ragging on you or anything, just curious as to how your journey is going.

Along the way you will encounter a great many reasons to *not* BASE jump. It takes a real force of will and a lot of time to make it happen, so there is no shame in things not happening as fast as you want.

Are you any close to making a skydive?

Re: [JacobG] Are base jumpers superspicious?
No he won't. I've always thought this stunt was a little blown out of proportion. Give me a 500' tall slip and slide 40' wide at a 1.5 to 1 glide decent and a 500' exit flat at the bottom and I'll track down that shit! Tongue Laugh Seriously, I'm surprised he hasn't, or anyone else hasn't done it yet, it's a money and balls thing.
