Re: [jonnyomalley] jump height
unless you mean a 1st base jump after building up the prerequisite skills as a skydiver, in which case a nice bridge with a forgiving landing area will do. A pilot chute assist done by your mentor would be best in my opinion. The altitude of the aforementioned bridge would be largely irrelevant all other things considered.

The plain fact of the matter is that most if not all of the questions you have asked would have already been answered if you already knew how to skydive . But this is the begginers forum so go ahead and keep asking, just don't be surpised if people keep mentioning the skydiving/aeroplane thingy.

Re: [jonnyomalley] jump height
Dude, go read the articles, people here really want to help you but only if you show drive and motivation to learn. The questions you are asking should all be learned on your own by reading and doing research. your acting like a kid who wants a puppy but isnt willing to build the dog house that his parents lay out as a pre-requisite.

That being said, its a technicaly advanced deployment that you shouldnt even be worrying about right now. Get your skydives and go do a FJC at the Perrine. Read all the articles in the meantime.

Re: [jonnyomalley] jump height
well I guess you could call it that, its more of a fun thing as well though, not necessarely for low jumps more often just for fun. but not something you would do for your 1st base jumps. It could also be used as a trick for self rescue if you have had a wall strike and are stranded , uninjured on a cliff.
However its not strictly speaking an actual base jump as to call it a base jump the chute has to be packed.but base jumpers still have fun doing unpacked jumps anyway.
