Thinking of doing some mcconkey or similar jumps w my paraglider. any one here having experience whith this non BASE related subject?

Im interested to know if i will notice longer opening due longer lines etc how sensitive will the glider be in the opening. ill use a DHV 2 tested to 12G to this funny event.

No i have no BASE experience at all,but this aint a BASE-jump

I do realice this is not a BASEjump i as its not a packed jump nor will i use BASEequipment

i have a friend that took his speed wing off the bridge i dont know if he kited it or rolled over but it seems like your asking for a malfunction with a paraglider.

why would it be asking for a malfunktion to a paraglider more than a BASEcanopy,besides more lines,the trick really is to keep the line streach at all time..

Higher aspect ratio wing, and needs proper handling coming out of a stall. Risk that wing could surge / stall then turn into a bag of washing...

If you haven't done an SIV course yet, then I wouldn't try a roll-over with a paraglider just yet - certainly not on a CEN C (DHV 2) wing.

No, haven't done one myself - but do paraglide (and have met people who have done this!)

Shoot Calvin19 a message on here, he rolled an old DHV 1 off G-spot a while back. And has tons on higher performance/acro gliders off the bridge/out of balloons.

It would be really badass taking a paraglider off a bridge, catching a thermal, and then coming back up to the bridge!

Per Pendragon and ineedtofly advice; I would definitely contact Matt Hecker (Calvin19) before doing this and only use a DHV-1 or 1-2 wing. Maybe an acro wing, ask Matt. I saw Matt do a PG rollover at the Perrine in 2007, he used a tailgate but I didn't see the exact setup.

I just spent the last hour or two trying unsuccessfully to find a link to a video of a guy doing a PG rollover off a bridge. He gets a good launch and initial opening. Then the glider spins up and smashes him into the rocks below. He is seriously injured but lives. Don't let this be you.

Cheers guys i do know Calvin and do know he knows tons of stuff,but in my world i need as much info from as many as posible then deside if i want the risk :)

A DHV 2 glider will be a bit more technical, but it's definitely possible to roll it over (although dbagging it might be safer). Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

-Longer lines = harder push and longer time before you swing around (compared to a BASE roll over)

-Depending on your glider, the restart (or "bite") could be agressive (I'd imagine it'd be sensitive on a 2). If you mess up or miss time this, you could either go into a stall, or, the glider could bite hard enough to frontal (this is bad!)

-Your chance of a cravate is higher. I'd suggest being very comfortable with full stalls/cravate removal (stabilo).

-Take a reserve.

If you have the option, try one out of a balloon.

cheers Nathan,the reasson im in the more agressive glider is as of its strenght. how do you recon a dhv 1 or 1-2 glider will take it,im not sure it it can take the shok?

It does make sence the 2ér is abit more unstable by opening.

by frontal i guess your speaking abour forward surge as just after you stalled it and it wants to start fly .Im not sure if it could get a front colapes,i think the force will be too big.

didn't Mcconkey get the idea of the Mcconkey from watching paraglider pilots do it? Francais Bon (think thats the spelling) from Acro Base used to have a bunch of rollover and D-bag stuff online. ahh, here...
