From 5:20 and 6:20, are those guys ok, that looked freaking crazy, especially that wall strike in full flightShocked Didnt think it was possible to survive impact with a wall in a wingsuit...glad he recovered. Does anybody know those people?

Glad to see South Africa representing at 5:20-6:20 Tongue

That same jumper recently had a microlight crash and broke his shoulder, one of the luckiest buggers I've ever met!

He's also got a jacket with bullet holes in, he got shot at while at a DZ

Well I think its a good video to show all those "elite" wannabe basejumpers, will probably work much better than writing how dangerous it is :P

Re: [Lukasz_Se] Carnage
as shows the majority of strikes come from low cliffs or sub terminal cliffs. note to self.

Did that guy go in at 3:40?

Re: [Xander] Carnage
Ya sure does look that way & then the cameraman gets sucked-down almost to the point of no return & barely lives .

Re: [Xander] Carnage
There is a lot to be learned from this. I wish we had some pilot/observer comments on this.

What stands out to me is
1) how helpless jumpers are under a twisted line/riser canopy
2) how much more helpless they become after hitting the wall a couple times
3) how the ones who succesffully steer away from the wall are relatively unhurt
4) that landing in a tree can be a good thing so long as one steers to the trunk, covers one's armpits, wears eye protection, and prepares in a relaxed way for a PLF.

No. He would not survive. It was turbulence near the wall.
Xander wrote:

As I know both survived.
As for 5:15 - canopy inflated again through MDV 3 feet above the ground. No damage to both canopy and pilot. But landing on the trunk is preferable

Interesting that this guy edits together a video using a bunch of other people's video and then puts a copyright on it. Funny.
No copyrights or all rights reserved stuff at all. All videos were downloaded from open sources as youtube and skidivingmovies. It is just a compilation. It has educational purposes only: don't be too close to the wall while wingsuiting, have WLO or hookknife at least, use protection gear, open higher and as far from the wall as possible, that Lau in not good for starting wingsuit.
All this things are obvious for experienced jumpers, but beginners sometimes think that BASE is funny and safe and that shit never happens. It surely does Smile

For once you have tasted a wall strike you will walk the earth with your eyes turned cliff-wards, for there you have been and there you will long to avoid.

I had a unforgetable wallstrike in 2006 after a slider down cliff jump. I walked away without a scrach after REGA picked me out of a wall, me sitting on a tiny ledge and below me a vertical wall of 600 feet... I have done one slider down jump after this experience because even more than 5 years after my wall strike I still sometimes have to think of me, trying to turn the canopy away from the cliff and after the canopy was destroyed from hitting the wall, trying to grab every rock or bush there was in that wall while thinking, ok, that was it, this is how I die...
Slider down cliff jumps are black death!

This reminds me of a thought I had a bit ago.

I wouldn't skydive if I wasn't sure I could properly handle a horseshoe mal, which is probably the mal that scares me the most. I pack my pilotchute so that it is less likely to ball up if tension comes from the bridle (as is the case with a horseshoe), I've practiced procedures, I'm pretty current and so on.

Obviously there is an element of random luck here and even the most prepared die, but in general I've labeled a horsehoe as "manageable" in my mind.

Now similarly, assuming that you're current, you have a good brake setting, have vents, launch well and you don't jump in stupid conditions, do you guys view a slider down 180 on a cliff as something that you can get recover from reliably, or is it just another roll of the dice, black death just waiting to happen (to quote Mikki)?

I guess "fine" wasn't entirely accurate. Thanks for finding that.

I was on that load... I jumped right befor them and watched Jaime pound in 30 feet away from me. I'll never forget that sound (and the whole day). But I did some nice jumps with Jaime 2 years ago at KL so everything is fine and how it should be Smile

Re: [Mikki_ZH] Carnage
The jumpers at 3:40 was not the Mexican wrap. It was the 2 dudes doing too many front loops on SkydivingMovies.com. The one dude surely isn't fine? Really?

Re: [Lukasz_Se] Carnage
Teh video reminds me on my former days. I grew up in the mountains.

when we were bored kids we watched sk8boardmovies and always freaked out for the slampart of each movie. Afterwards we used to watch snowboard movies. Those guys are athlets... But a slampart in a movie is a must.
then we begann to watch motoX movies. great! doing whips/... flips, and from time to time a horrible bail. you know thoese kind of movies. They have one in common: No one died and very often those lucky bustards stood up again. so we sk8ed, snowboarded and I bought a nice 250cc.

My best friend who was a beginning skydiver brought one day a Skydivingmovie. I don´t remeber the name but it was sick! there were also some basejumps in it and also a couple of low pulls and even one base-guy thet slid down a waterfall. he was not harmed.
Sadly my friend is on the bfl list now! I´m suffering from this everyday (> 5ys now!)

When I see a movie like this particular one I don´t think that it distracted anybody from Basejumping! I think the opposite is the case. I think the movie shows that when the shit is hitting the fan you have a good chance to survive (like the guy on bridgeday).
the vid will go viral, and everybody will think: COOL
