Ok, here is one that might work, at least a few of the steps listed I know you have already have experience in doing, so now just put them together:

Step A. Find someone who has a ticket.

Step B. Make sure they are male and kind of look like you, or if female, crossdress.

Step C. Tie them up for about 6 hours.

Step D. Assume their identity. Jump.

Step E. Make sure your friends have cash, you will be seeing the friendly judge the following morning, (what was his name again???) and I don't think he takes American Express.

I am pretty bummed myself, I was thinking of going this year... ;-(

Re: [Dickhead] Who knows Jason Bell?
I'm registered, but will be unable to attend. If the registration is transferable, you're welcome to mine.
Shortcut
Jason Who??
Jeff, wish you could attend.
Stay safe in the mean time.

John Van Horn, definitely come to
Bridge Day, the parties and bandit
loads are worth the trip.

Plus once we give you Jeff's trademark
reverse mowahk hair cut you will look
cool and no more ticket problem.

I have a ticket I need to get rid of. Something came up and I can't make BD. PM me.

Re: [Ajunkie] Who knows Jason Bell?
We used to permit transfers, but jumpers were trading jump passes with such frequency that I could never catch up. We had 50 people show up at BD telling us they are using someone else's jump pass. Then we had to verify that the original jumper was indeed not attending, destroy the old ID badge, create a new one, enter new jumper's info in the database, insure they have been background checked, etc.......all onsite at the Holiday Lodge.

Not sure what is the best method to handle situations like this. I'd like to let everyone jump, but can I really handle all the last minute chaos that accompanies jump pass swaps? Remember, BASE jumpers are law breakers by nature.

I'm open to suggestions. We have been getting bombarded with requests to jump and I'm on the fence at what to do.

HI, I'm going to send a email to Jason. I'll let you know if he'll let me trade. Thanks for the help.

No problem dickhead! Wink

Re: [Dickhead] Who knows Jason Bell?
base428 is jason, one post up.

428: institute a transfer fee, payable to vv, no refunds.
Shortcut
Re: [Dickhead] Who knows Jason Bell?
hey, i know you both! it has been against policy, like Jason said, to allow transfers for some time now. i completely understand this rule, as the chaos is quite intense for Jason and his staff.

that being said, i hope you can work something out... would be great to see you on the bridge!

Seriously?!?!?!

Jason, why would you say something like that while attempting to promote BASE at the same time? If we change attitudes of people inside BASE, maybe the rest of the world would as well and we could progress the sport further.

I would call BASE jumpers more Freedom Seekers than Law Breakers.Smile

Re: [base428] Who knows Jason Bell?
Who sets the limit on the number of jumpers you can have registered?

I know of several jumpers who are registered who are not going to be able to attend.

Re: [Scubadivemaster] Who knows Jason Bell?
regardless of who sets the limit. if you registered and paid for a slot at BD and have to flake. no swapsies and no refunds in my opinion. this is not Home Depot where satisfaction is guaranteed, it's BASE jumping. when you're trying to BASE jump in the real world, don't you hate the flaky jumpers that are always phsyched as hell at 1st and then always start waffling at the end. try 300-500 jumpers. lotta' damn flakes.

edit, not calling out your friends out at all scubadivemaster, just sayin' from an organizational standpoint. nightmare.

Re: [Spiderbaby] Who knows Jason Bell?
As long as no one was being turned away, I agreed entirely, as I think Jason has always done. If the only people that miss out are the "flakes", they knew the rules when they paid and I think the grumbling was minimal.

I do hate that there are people who want to come now that cannot. Maybe they are the "non-flakey" folks who didn't register early because they weren't certain they could come. Now that they know they can, the "flakes" have all the spots bought up and won't even be there.

To be fair, my brother is one of the "flakes" whose changed work responsibilities forced him to choose between his job and Bridge Day. I don't really think all of these people are flakes. Even if you can't transfer the registrations, I think many if not most jumpers who know they cannot come would be willing to send Jason an email telling him they are cancelling, know they will not get a refund, and that he can sell their slot to someone else. Of course then they can't get their T-shirt.Wink

But if that is too much work for Jason on top of everything else he has to do here at the last minute, fuck everybody else, shorter lines for me!

On a side note, on Sunday, Fayette Station was at -.8 feet and the sandbar not nearly as visible as in the past few years, though the landing area still looks very nice. I love how the trees keep thinning out down there. Smile

Re: [Spiderbaby] Who knows Jason Bell?
No offense taken.

Oh, and my question about who sets the limit was tied to the thought that if Jason had registered jumpers he knew were not coming, and could raise that limit himself, he could sell some extra slots.

Nobody in the United States can claim to be a law abiding citizen. Anyone that does is a lier or a fool. How can anyone claim to be law abiding when it is not even possible to be cognizant of all the laws?

Oversell just like the airlines. Only the first X in line that actually show up get to jump... The first X people are absolutely guaranteed a slot if they show up by 9PM or something... No refunds, no transfers, etc. To much headache. Just let some people "fly standby" and take the jump slots other people flaked out on in the order in which they paid. Be honest to those who are buying on how likely they will be to actually jump, but everyone flying standby is taking a chance.

Re: Who knows Jason Bell?
Due to cancellations, a few BD jump slots are available for a limited time. You must have received a one-time BD background check between 2002-2010 since the window for processing new jumpers through the Sheriff has closed.
