July 12th will never be the same. I remember the days afterwards in a haze of denial. I remember not being able to cry till hours later. The shock.
Two years have past and there is still a void that nothing can fill. Still no closure… Still lots of anger at the Universe... It just wasn’t your time, Jeremy! How can Lady Luck that is so generous to so many give you the short straw? Why couldn’t she send a thief your way to steal your new rig the day before, so for years to come we would remember this day as the day you were robbed? Instead, we’ll always remember this day as the day we were robbed of the sparkle in your eye, your awesome sense of humor and your generous personality.
As I watch, time after time, the stupid reckless decisions that are being repeated by those who seems to have very little appreciation for the gift of life I can’t stop asking “Why you?” You, who’s been so careful and who took progression so seriously? How could’ve that not been rewarded by BASE Gods? Why did they have to take you as a sacrifice to this sport? How could they? The giant upon men, one of a kind, the best of the best, the man who’s done so much for his country and those lucky enough to call you a Friend. I understand a gear lesson needed to be learned but the price was way too high! Why were you not given a chance to a lucky escape with partially inflated canopy like many others? I guess, still serving others even in your death as you did all your life. You are missed beyond words, Jeremy Graczyk! Thank you for being a sparkle in our lives!
And as much as I blame Lady Luck for negligence that day, I’m still eternally grateful to her for so many amazing friends of ours that she has smiled upon over the years, including another giant among men and the most humble best of the best – Jeff, on that very same day. Thank you, Lady! Because it would’ve been way too much to bear!!

Please, tell SkyPunk that my hair color now is his favorite shade of purple, tell Bill that I still want to get a boxer one of these days, tell Suppa that we can’t play a single game of RockBand and not miss his awesome singing performance, tell Frank I’m so sorry I was working the last time he was in town and didn’t get to see him.
