Flik ultralite as slider down canopy.
Ok now, it's friday, and I have nothing to do, so here it goesWink. So reading the canopy/fabric info, which said that the flik UL can be used as a slider down canopy, and that the fabric meets and exceeds f111 standards got me thinking.

If that's true, then why one can't use the UL as an everyday canopy primarily for SD jumps. I mean seriously, if you don't take price into account, I see only pros about it. Plus you get style points for jumping a TLCool.

You sometimes have to climb 50 stories and a cage-surrounded ladder in Moscow to get to an exit point. I'm a non-jumper, but some exhausted friends with huge-ass trolls on their backs got me thinking.

With that going, why is buying a flik UL/TLs as a first rig is a bad idea? Of course packing without the trough-loops for the sd jumps, and first terminal jums. Don't get me wrong, my first jump will be in 3 years at bestBlush, but like I said. it's friday night.

On a side note, what are the major diffirences between the TLs and the LD2, and which one do you think is better suited for (primarily) slider down?
Sorry if this has been discussed before.
Hope to someday see the people from this forum, IvanSmile

Re: [uer16] Flik ultralite as slider down canopy.
all manufacturers state that UL fabric doesn't last as long as regular F111.

in my personal experience the UL fabric is much easieser damaged than F111. Since most SD jumps (at least the ones I have done) have less than hospitable landing areas, that would mean significantly higher risk of fabric damage.

Yes, TLs and UL canopy are by far not a good combination for an average beginner jumper. The newbies of today have very little experience in skydiving and shit for experience with rigging.

I think you may be missing a few points, mostly due to being a non-jumper. Not hating, just stating what I think.

Wow that was fast. Alright, so durability looks like a problem. It would be also interesting to know about how well they take water landings. As for experience of rigging, I agree 100%. Somehow even experienced jumpers from my area don't even know their Troll PIA sizeLaugh And I saw one jumper with 70 jumps who had no idea what that little hole(floorplate) in his container was for, moreover, his closing loops were soooo worn, his pins were literally held by the last 1mm strand of spcectra. And yes, I think I still miss a lot of points, that's why I read, watch, talk, and occasionally post.
Wish you best of luck, Ivan
