Re: [base283] linlky, LB, Swiss, press
Thanks for the article. Can't say I blame the people in the valley feeling the way they do. I would not want someone plummeting to their death on my property either, nor would I want to have my kids watch someone die.

I think it is more than that, though, that angers them. It is also the lack of respect by many jumpers that visit the valley. Jumpers should be on their knees kissing the asses of everyone in the community. The farmers and the community should be given a shit ton of cash by jumpers for allowing us to land in their fields and visit their town. But every time I have been there, I have seen groups of douche bag jumpers acting as though they own the place. I am kind of embarrassed to be a jumper with a lot of the dip-shits that are coming into the sport. It will definitely suck when LB gets shut down. Unimpressed

It is against my nature to agree with anyone. But I agree with you.

i look at this and see a similar lack of respect as those who complain about how people who get base numbers are being 'controlled'.
they want to go to LB and not be controlled, be it acting like fools, treating farmers with disrespect, not buying landing-card, or calling air glacier. or just walking away from angry farmers who are yelling at you..
if an angry farmer was yelling at me, id go buy him some gifts, and go to his house with an apologetic demeanor. trying to make up for the 8 rude disrespectful jumpers before me.
I am just a visitor to the area, these people live their lives there.

Looks like it's a two part article...so even more bad press is imminent.

" the BASE jumpers are only interested in their next adrenaline rush"

Just another piece of sensational fluff.

Thanks, I've just learned about the special connection between yurination and tree landings. Angelic

The rest is 99% journalist crap. They have to invent stories to earn their bread.

P.S. I loved this: "even a dead BASE jumper brings money in," the farmer says angrily. Many in the area would earn some cash in such a case, "the doctor, mountain rescue" and also the hotel and restaurant industry -- "when the relatives travel here," says Feuz.

Don't farmers get some CHF from the landing cards we buy?! I wonder how much they get and what amount will make "angry farmers" happy?

Liebes Spiegel Redaktionsteam!

Also nichts Neues

allerdings in ihrem Bericht vermisse.

Bernhard Sauer

I've seen many jumpers who typify this attitude, and take no pains to hide it.

Is it really "sensational fluff" if jumpers are giving that impression to people they interact with?
