Chris, I think he was being sarcastic. There are a lot of people who seem to perceive BASE as the coolest thing on youtube and they come here wanting to find the fastest path to getting into BASE.
The reality is that taking an approach like that is like seeing a documentary on brain surgery and immediately applying to medical schools asking what is the quickest way to become a neurosurgeon.
A more workable approach is to go through AFF, focus on it and learn as much as you can about the gear and how to use it. *Then* come here and introduce yourself.
Also, most people will have a lot more success meeting BASE jumpers at a DZ and getting some exposure to BASE by ground crewing.
It's really important to take your time, develop some fundamental skills through skydiving experience, and show yourself to be someone with the judgement and dedication.
Try not to get frustrated by the fact that it takes a while to get ready to try BASE jumping. Skydiving is a lot of fun and you will enjoy the journey.
