Just needing some insight on a possible clash of the titans with these two canopies. I've been looking at possibly getting a package of a a Flik or an ACE. Any outstanding differences that I may have overlooked? I am 145 pounds 5'9 and mostly jumping in an area with SD down jumps as the majority. Any info from owners would be sweet.

Are you looking at a vented or unvented canopy?

If you want unvented, I'd pick the Ace because it's inflation is cleaner and faster than the unvented Flik.

if your plan is to mostly make SD jumps, why are you looking at an unvented canopy ?

Seen a guy cut his away and walk off leaving it in a tree after landing with tension knots on two separate occasions. I guess he didn't like it any more.

Sounds like a line rigging or line stowing problem. But that's enough to make me avoid it.

I actually have one of each.

I have a Flik 293 vTech 4 and an Ace 280.

I really feel you can't go wrong choosing between those two. I think my ACE flies just a little better than the Flik, but I think the smaller size is what accounts for that.

For Slider Down jumps, I'd Choose the Flik with vents if I were you. That is why I put the Flik in my primary rig and use the ACE when ever I need my second rig (not all that often).

It's sort of an apples-to-oranges comparison if you are talking about a Flik Vtec and an Ace. A better comparison would be the vented versions of each canopy (Flik Vtec v. Blackjack) or the unvented version of each (Flik with no Vtec v. Ace).

My personal preference on the vented versions is the Blackjack, but I think the Flik Vtec is pretty close.

My preference on the unvented versions is the Ace, and I think the Flik (no Vtec) isn't even in the same league as far as pressurization.
