TonySuits R-Bird
Does anyone here have any experience with the R Bird? how does the Escape Sleeve go? How does it start and fly compared to a Phantom2? Recommended for the BASE environment?

Any info appreciated.

I have ~50 WS BASE jumps on my old model R-Bird (the arm wings on newer R-Birds looks bigger).

Take a look at these videos:

skip the r-bird...get an S if your upsizing...better leg to arm ratio. jump a T-bird until you think your ready for a bigger wing. my two cents, take it or leave it

I only have 7 wingsuit flights (6 on a R-bird) and just completed the Apex FJC this past weekend, so... What I have learned from the Tonysuit website and manual (and 6 sweet jumps) is as the canopy leaves the container and starts to stand me up, I bring my knees towards my chest and that creates some slack that allows me to reach my toggles.

Regardles of brand, any 'escape' sleeve wil only function in non emergencies. In case of a spinning canopy lifting knees is not always an option.

Its a fun feature, but very dependant of clothing worn, fit, type of opening/mal.
Not something to put blind faith in, in emergencies...

The sleeves do work. I have had spinning Tension knots on a BASE canopy with one of Tonys suits and I was able to reach everything I tried to without any noticeable difficulty. I promise you it was a high stress emergency.

No, for some people they work. Depending on suit, size, clothing etc.
There are equal amount of real world examples where they dont work. Again, regardles of brand. Venom has the same issue, even with the stretch fabric now seen on several designs.

It works for some people, know what. gear you use, and if/when to trust it. Its far from aflawless system.

This would be a good time to post the pic of your reserve pc and freebag between your leg and upside down in your X. Tongue
