Durability of parachute question
How many jump can you make with a new parachute before it's showing signs for you to get a new one?

Thanks.

Re: [SteveHawking] Durability of parachute question
How long is a piece of string?

The life span of a canopy depends on the owner, landing areas, jump type etc....

You'll need to do periodical maintenance like having the Velcro changed on the tail pocket and toggles and change damaged or worn lines.

I would guess anywhere from 350 - 500 jumps as a ballpark figure.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Also, this has come up in the forums many times before, lurk, read and search for what you are looking for before posting.

Re: [SteveHawking] Durability of parachute question
For a BASE canopy, 500 jumps is a good average rule of thumb.

I have a canopy that is over 1000 jumps now, but that's more the exception than the rule.

In general, beginners are harder on their gear, so expect your first canopy to have a bit shorter service lifetime.

if you could run a test on yours, that would be great, just let us know at how many jumps it has a catastrophic failure =D
