Re: [leoholanda] FJC in British Columbia Canada
While there are sites where a person
could do first jumps in and around BC, the potato bridge is, while not hardcore, an outstanding place to learn BASE. Furthermore, it's host to a lot of first jump courses being taught by folks who are not only highly experienced jumpers but (and I think this is equally important) highly experienced
instructors. I think it'd be worth asking yourself why you wouldn't take advantage of all of that when it's an easy day's drive (or cheap flight) away.
People seem to think that mentoring and commercial BASE courses are mutually exclusive. They're not. Get your information from as wide a variety of experienced sources as possible -- including not only those who you hang out with (which is a bit of a self-selecting group) but also those who probably wouldn't hang out with you unless you paid them to. :) You'll feel better at the exit point for it -- less like somebody's babysitting you, and more like you're sharing the experience with friends.
