Thank you!!!
Ok guys, so I’m heading out to the Perrine this weekend for my first jump course. Super amped and ready to take the first step in what I hope is going to be a solid BASE career. Before I leave, and while I’m still alive Wink I just wanted to post on here and thank everyone for all the help they have provided over the past two years. Thank you for not flaming me too hard when I thought I was going to be ready to BASE jump after 50 skydives (when I didn’t even have an A license yet), thank you for putting me on the right path and showing me everything that I didn’t know! Thank you for all the articles that everyone has written and all the enlightening posts (even more so the entertaining ones -> “bootstrap”). Thank you to the moderators for making this site the best online resource for BASE jumping. Thanks to all the Dinosaurs and Super Skilled BASE Ninjas for setting all of us newbie’s straight. Thanks for the pictures and the videos to keep me super amped and on track. Basically what I’m trying to say is……..you guessed it……Thanks for everything!

9 years of dreaming (since I saw the xXx BASE jump)
5 years of being a puss
4 years of saving cash
3 years of skydiving
2 years of serious reading and preparation

All leading up to this weekend, and where the events of this weekend will take me.

Be careful. It's a long way down. Oh...and enjoy the bruises that you'll get on your thighs from holding onto the railing to tight. haha. Enjoy the trip.

Re: [SubTerminallyill] Thank you!!!
So I just got back to NYC on the red eye last night with a three hour lay over in Denver. I’m on 48 hours of no sleep and coming back to a mess at work but I couldn’t be happier. The course went great, Jimmy and Marta were amazing. Relax, this isn’t going to be the same old rant about how awesome my FJC is and why everyone should take a specific one (since I have no perception of how the other courses are and what you learn). I can say that the APEX FJC did not disappoint and Jimmy and Marta are as knowledgeable as they are cool (and I mean wicked cool!). My new rig was delivered to the hotel the day before the course so I was able to jump my own gear which I think will help with some gear fear when I start jumping the local objects. I was able to make 5 jumps (2 PCAs, 1 S/L, 1 hand held, and one stowed). All in all it was an amazing weekend, made a ton a new friends, and learned a hell of a lot of information. It feels good to finally be a newbie instead of just a skydiver!

Good post and Good Luck. In the You Tube world we live in, too many newbies want to run before they can walk. In BASE jumping, that's OK so long as the wonderful gear and packing techniques work the way they are supposed to. While I do understand the bravado, if shit goes wrong, and someday it will, they will not be as prepared as an experienced skydiver to handle the emergency. It can be the difference between life and death. Anyway, best of luck and one day we'll look forward to your BASE application, but don't rush it. Enjoy the journey, not just the prize.
Good Luck at Perrine

After carrying someone completely out on my back, and carrying another to the boat to get on an ambulance at the dock, both with broken legs, can we find a better idiom?TongueTongueWinkWinkSmile
