Start here. My UK geography is pretty hazy, but call up whichever DZ is closest to you and inquire about introductory parachuting training.

as a matter of fact just start reading all the articles on this site, they are all really intresting and provide a ton of great info.

But if you dont skydive you have to start that first!

Good luck bud!

Hey.

Quite simply this is going to be pretty tough for you because of where you stay. Although you do have a couple of options.

Do you have plans in the future to move to the mainland? I ask because unless you have a lot of spare cash this is going to get very expensive!

Until last year I was an Instructor at Skydive Strathallan in Perthshire and would recommend it as the best place to get started in skydiving in Scotland.

My reccomendation is not just based on that being my home DZ but also my knowledge of other DZs in Scotland and abroad.

You need to skydive first and you need to get a whole load of jumps in before you consider BASE. There are plenty of articles, as already mentioned by others, so do yourself a favour and read them and more.

Okay you have 2 options. Do a static line course, which you can do at Strathallan. this will take you a minimum of 6 months to get qualified as an 'A' licence holder or you can do Accelerated FreeFall course down in England or abroad. this will give you the same qualification over 2 - 3 weeks. These are the minimum time periods to achieve the qualification but weather and ability will play a big part. If you do it in less time it means your now only a couple of years away from BASE a bit sooner than expected!!!!

Seriously though, getting qualified in skydiving then gaining experience before BASE jumping is going to take you a long time and I'm factoring in where you live.

Ask the guys at Strath for all the info you can although they will not encourage BASE.

Good luck, maybe see you in a few years ;)
