found on a rooftop, close to the edge
if someone can identify the model, or at the very least specify its capability, it'll be much appreciated

Re: [vid666] help identifying security camera type
Several Panasonic cameras fit in that housing. The links should get you started in the right direction to see the capabilities.

Re: [Scubadivemaster] help identifying security camera type
I wonder if a powerful laser pointer could permanently blind those cameras. Powerful ones are available online, manufactured in China, where regulations on safety are minimal.

Re: [460] help identifying security camera type
Fun fact, one of the russian guys at my DZ had a laser pointer that was able to light things on fire from 15 feet away.

Re: [vid666] help identifying security camera type
www.wickedlasers.com has a 1 watt laser pointer that could destroy the camera.

occam's razor
Burnt, smoldering cameras would be fun
but black paint is cheaper, easier to get,
does the same job with less damage, and
probably a lot less shit if got caught.

Re: [GreenMachine] occam's razor
Paintball gun should cover it for a while and it is bio degradable paint so will wash off easy.[;)

Re: [vid666] help identifying security camera type
My wild guess would be that the OP would like to temporarily disable the camera from a distance.

Don't know if my explanation of possible solution will be good enough.
Imagine some kind of telescopic butterfly net. Replace net with black bag. Discretely cover the camera.
Now to be "completely innocent" and leave no trace, rig the bag so as to remove it as-you-jump (like a carry-away-static-line)
This would reduce your responsability on the temporary disablement of the camera Smile

uuuuhhh! everybody is so jamesbondsy here!
of all the cameras etc. i have encountered so far i never needed any of that shit.i either went around it or quikly by it.
the problem is not the camera anyways but the eyes behind it.
and if someone is monitoring and it sudennly goes black, or splat or frizzz i wonder what said dude is going to do...
but hey, thats just me.
y'all ready your paintball guns.

Re: [mr_prick] help identifying security camera type
I agree. In my (limited) experience I've found that most cameras are not continuously monitored, and even if they are, the same guy is watching several screens and probably not paying that much attention to any one of them. I'd imagine you'd be much better off just getting out of its' view in a timely fashion. That said, I believe the OP is no newbie and might already know this and know something about the monitoring of this feed that we don't...

Re: [vid666] help identifying security camera type
i will tell you the capability at night goes way down. unless it is a well lit area, facial recognition is useless in any low light condition . i would suggest a probe and retreat to see if there is any response. im sure u know that already :). some of the better programs alert the personnel when there is movement on the camera especially in a remote area. if you need more specifics, pm..

good luck

This is a PTZ camera. Serveral can fit in the housing...Do you wanna know range? Is it a manned camera?

What about BASE ethics? WHy destroy something? cover yourself and jump.

These can be real expensive IP cameras.

Thank you for the info.
If you notice I never stated that my intent was to damage anything - I am/was just interested in the info.
