Sufing and the go pro
As i`m looking forward to start surfing in portugal this september, i got the idea of bringing my Go Pro there, reardless of how uneventfull and not worthy filming my first tries on a surfboard will be. So the go pro they sell to the surfers seem to be the exactly same version i use for b.a.s.e. and skydiving, exept of cours, for the mounts.
The question for me is, m`i going to ruin the camera when being maybe a few meters underwater because the casing will start leaking?
What could be a good ida for mounting the camera, as the board will be a rented one, i probably won`t wear a helmet and there most probably isn`t a way of bellymounting it.

HELPFUL advice welcome.

Re: [hijack] Sufing and the go pro
the surf gopro has a large suction cup mount, remove all wax from the board where its gonna mount, after mounted i like to put a little duct tape around the suction cup just for shits and giggles.
ive never had the case leak, and ive been in overhead surf with it multiple times.
watch your leash, it will pull the camera off, just pay attention.
another idea is to put the cam behind you by the tail, then you can run a string from the leash plug to the gopro mount so if it does get knocked off its still attached.
one of my bros gets a string and duct tapes it to the front of the board and attaches it to the gopro mount so you can have the in your face footage with out fear of losing it aswell. hope this helps

They also make a leash plug mount if you want to mount it to the tail. Check it out at the gopro website.

I watched a vid on YouTube acouple of weeks back of a guy that had his gopro found in the water several months after it fell off his board. His was still completely sealed and the only damage was some coral and dirt on the outside of it. I don't think you'll have a problem hitting afew splashes with it! :)

Re: [Xander] Sufing and the go pro
actually this weekend i attached my gopro to my board with the flat 3m adhesive mount, it worked out great! i got some really sweet footage from it on the nose of the board looking back. getting pics of getting shacked on the west coast of florida are rare!
now i want one of those floating backs for it just incase!
