Re: [shadowhound] price for gear
get yourself a nice used and highly worn out velcro container (one that doesnt stay open very well), and a raven IV parachute. you should be good to go off a tall building immediately

Canopy: Best deal I've gotten on a serviceable older canopy in the past year was $550. I found another for $650. Price of a new top of the line canopy with all the options is going to be more like $2000.

Other stuff: You'll need a container, risers, toggles, pilot chute and stash bag. Most manufacturers call this the "container package" or some such label, and price it around $1000. The cheapest I've bought that stuff used recently was also down around $500 (for a 2 pin container), but prices can be lower for older velcro rigs which have lower demand.

For real world prices, cruise the classifieds here and the web sites of the various manufacturers.
