I plan on using it for big wall WS and tracking jumps.

Some questions:
- how much is the difference in weight between the two ?
- do the spectra lines stay in trim (after say 100 jumps)
- is one easier to stow in the tailpocket than the other ?
- are the spectra lines less prone to tension knot ?
- is there a big difference in the opening shock between the two ? Smile

A lot more then you would think. I believe there is more weght saving on the lines than the rest of the Ultra light canopy.

Yes.

If you are used to packing Dacron it will just be a matter of getting used to packing the Spectra.

In theory. I wouldn't use this as a defining factor for your purchase though.

Not if you pack them properly.

I used to jump a mavric with mico lines for a lot of my slider up jumps. Great canopy. I might use vectran for my break lines if I went with specter again. I had trouble keeping my break setting in trim.

Not sure about the other guys but the Trango comes standard with Dacron control lines. Seems they already thought of that :-)

Re: [flite] Ultralight slider up canopy lines - spectra or dacron
95% of the time I am jumping big wall WS stuff, the rest of the time is a mix.

I have 2 ultralight canopies:
Flik Ultralight - Vented with 400lb dacron (this is smaller than the dacron you are used to on base canopies.

Trango - with zp and 400lb dacron

Out of the two I would have to say that I like the Flik ultralight more I have a ton of terminal and sub terminal Wingsuit jumps on it and a bunch of slider off jumps on it as well.
For wingsuit stuff it gives me the best openings I have ever had on any canopy and preforms well in tight landing area's and deep breaks. On the slider off stuff I have found it opens higher than my standard vented canopy off the same object with the same pc and same delay not really sure why but I have to asume that the weight plays a large part in it since it is subterminal low airspeed stuff. I have some video's of the openings if you want to see them.

The trango is nice not the biggest fan of the openings so I probably will not be jumping it slider off, it has some nice glide to it and helicopters like a mofo which really isn't that important but it sure as hell is fun to do if you pull high enough. I had one with spectra before and liked that one less this is defiantly an improvement.

I don't know if the other light weight canopies out there use dacron as I have not seen them with it yet.

Oh and I think some of the manufactures are using 350lb dacron now which is even smaller almost like spectra.
