you are going to have to earn your way into the scene. what's in it for the jumpers? you will be recording something that is most likely an illegal jump. so, what's the incentive for a jumper to cooperate?

Ok this is ridiculous , everyone freakin out. No im not a dam cop. Base jumping would be my last worry if so. Does everyone freak out like this? Its not like imma film them, Then go show the owner like "look at this."

But dont get me wrong, Im a huge fan of the sport and love anyone whos brave enough to do it. I am in no way trying to cause anyone harm. And im not even sure what i would do. I just get really exited when my friend from Austria films and shows me some clips and i wanted to see if i can get some too. I dont HAVE to upload it anywhere, And even if i did Im not gonna be like, Oh yeah this takes place in (Place here) on this building/antenna etc. So owner mr so and so. go get them or something. Besides im sure the last thing on their mind every day is "ok im going on youtube and lookin up my building for jumpers".

there are groups of persons in atlanta who sell drugs also (bless their souls). plenty of footage of people using and distributing drugs out there on the interwebs. try asking some of those guys if you can film them. then act indignant and offended. who the fuck are you, and what the fuck kind of ridiculous entitlement do you suffer from?

That doesnt have anything to do with base at all.

The first rule of Flight Club is that you don't talk about Flight Club, let alone drag some random from the internet to an Ilegal BASE jump to film it. Think about it from a jumper's perspective. Would you want your ilegal activities filmed?

Much of the footage you see of Euro BASE jumps are from Legal jump sites. If you want to film BASE jumping here in the states. I would recommend Bridge Day, or visiting Twin Falls in Idaho.

First post was requesting the location of "Good Spots", but makes no mention of wanting to video other jumpers jumping these "good spots".

You say you don't jump, but want to...yet you claim to own a FLik and an Apex DP.

You're interests include.. "BASE Jumping Freestyle".. Um.. is that where you wear tights and pointed shoes and do a lot of splits and shit in freefall while your camera man carves around you? Haven't seen it in BASE yet.. so you sir could be a first.

So...jumpers let's read between the lines.

1. This guy is just didn't use his head (ie. common sense) when asking his request and gets pissy pretty easy. Who wants to hang out with that?

2. Who is jumping in the Walton county GA area or the ATL area? (Obviously don't say our name!) This very well might be a cop or some other property owner who is trying to get info. If you're in a 50 mile radius of this area be on the look out... or if you've recently been jumping a particular object on a regular basis and you used to jump it back in October; be ware. It might be heating up.

3. It's just another jumper who is bored and playing with his computer trying to get everyone stirred up. :)

Good job svin, you caught me. You did your reseach. And what if i did say it, how would anyone know? there are posts all the time saying where they are. You kinda have to say where you are to get people to jump with you lol, Just look a few threads below. And yes i know people have been arrested for base jumping before, whether it be the jump or the tresspassing. But THats usually on scene incident. Not a pre planned investigation by cops on a damned forum lol. "Guys were gunna catch us some base jumpers tonight, Fuck real criminals killing people and robbin Homes." But thats a cop for ya. Humor aside, Id like to apologize for anything i may have "stirred up". And i dont mean to act pissy. ITs also very hard to hear how someone communicates through text. Im actually a very soft spoken person who gets along with well anyone. But most of the time text cant portray that and it just comes out as hate or something. Also the freestyle is, FMX, freestyle motocross.

Also the last post i did went smoothly. No one freaked out in the first 10 comments, I mainly just got pms. Life goes on.

less than legal BASE should be approached with care. many jumpers will visit the site multiple times to assess it and note all sorts of details. it doesn't matter if it's a long drive, they do it to clear away unknowns. they want to predict what will happen (or won't happen).

and yes, a dose of paranoia helps.

these are traits of the world you have attempted to enter.

you desire to have your wishes respected. generally respect gets earned, not given. please consider putting in some effort (like a BASE jumper) if you want to achieve your goal.

and yes, these forums have been visited by Law Enforcement officials, by reporters, and other people who wish to video jumps. I have yet to read a post saying, "I'm glad I contacted them!" but many that said "that was a mistake."

of course we are going to be skeptical. I just got out of jail for base jumping and am looking at real consequences. a lot of base activity in the united states is really an underground activity compared to jumps in europe.

My thoughts...
1. I kinda feel bad for kid. Hes young and trying to get into a sport that you have to know someone to get anywhere... Good luck. As earlier stated, maybe start getting some video at a local DZ and make some connections that way... And...

Filming is not the next best thing to jumping,hanging with a crew is.
if you wanna get into the sport without upsetting people,leave the camera at home.try buying someone a beer and asking a few questions.if your lucky someone may let you be ground crew for a jump.thats where you learn the most.if you wanna watch footage there's youtube or this site.
