FJC options in Europe
i am thinking of doing an FJC in Europe to compliment the jumps that I will be doing in Australia before I leave. We dont have a lot of slider up stuff here. Can people please list the available courses EU side and the pros and cons of each course, in your opinion. I have had a poke around and some seem to cost a lot and offer very little. I will have my own rig and be proficient in packing come a years time....

Cheers Wink

I spent an awesome 8 days in Italy in May with James B. Very thorough course. As an Instructor and a Rigger myself I found his approach to be complete and precise with good support and attention to not only the details of preparation and jumping but also my individual needs.

The pace was good without pushing too much and progressing eventually to Brento. Well worth the walk! Cant wait to get back there next year for some more of the same.

You seem to be more worried about how much Base jumping is going to cost you then worrying if your going to get hurt or even die...Maybe if you dont have the money in your bank then you should re-evaluate what your plans are until you have the money to accomodate you ...

Base will end up costing you alot more then skydiving...

and i would not be opting on the cheaper things this is not a 2 cent sport where cheaper is better..

Enjoy your ride

What ever. Everyone knows that no body gets hurt on holidays.

MBA-PATTO is spot on. Use his post as a wallpaper on your PC. Read it and reread it every day. Dont sell yourself cheap.

You seem to be making assumptions that I get all my info on BASE from Youtube and Vimeo.

I have been in contact with locals here for a long while so I am well aware of what I am in for. Just sank all my money into a brand new Hyrbid2/Troll set up, so forgive me for wanting to know what my spend on an FJC is going to be.

ok, there is a guy in Verona DZ, He used to charge 100 yoyos. Put a Lady off of ITW in winds that were so strong thathe LZ bar had tables blowing away. I think she had a tibfib landing/hangup onthe wall and helirescue. and he contributed to #51 on the BFL. There ya go mate. All that you asked for. PM me forhis name.

I am sorry if you thought i was attacking you, but it was just from reading one post about pressurized gear being cheaper and that u are looking for peoples thoughts and then reading your second post about fjc's costing alot and offering nothing.

That i came up with 2+2 = 4.....

I would imagine that being in australia , you would have to ask yourself 3 big questions..

1. will i (being you) be jumping in australia only

Or

2. Only be jumping in europe..

3.Doing both?

Now considering you are purchasing a troll i am assuming that you will be jumping in european conditions.

I have a troll 245 and a trango 225 that i jump here in norway alot , i also have acquired a flik 242 ultra lite , that i am starting to feel a bit more current on.

Its hard to say what you would be better off doing ..

But if you wanna track big big walls then the fjc in kjerag, norway will show you that...Hoping you have a mentor to help you along the way...

or the pressurized course which is a full on 10 day program that will teach you about most things..and may even help you progress if you are jumping at home in australia (mentor required as well)

then what about the aussie course in the states...good things have been said about that as well....

All three can be found on the net with a few quick slashes of the keyboard...

Like i said before , forget about how much this and that costs mate,

because at the end of the day lets see

Flight ticket 2600 aus - europe return
New Base rig 3000 us maybe slightly cheaper or expensive.

Then itinery where you will do your course.

the accomodation for teh duration of your base experience can be 1000's of dollars..

getting around after course cars ,trains, share.. 1000 dollars

Learning to pack from people is time consuming and mostly new jumpers are not too keen on taking that time....

then maybe radios for communication 80 dollars

registrations in swiss valley and norway klubb...60 bucks each valley

ihi bupa insurance woohoo thats a big one 600 us for a 2 months stay fully insured..

the list goes on and on...

not to mention the hiking to get to the exit point..

The plane and paying 38 dollars a jump for 1 minute is looking a little better then the 8 grand so far spent...

I dont like naming other peoples name on the site too often, but i am sure the guy with massive dreads being a dealer (gear dealer that is) should be able to get you some discount on gear and tracking gear in a combo....... have you asked him ???

Or if you choose the pressurized course maybe and i say maybe they may give you a discount for the tracking suit for doing ther extensive 10 day course...

In the end it will come down to your decision on where you will be doing your jumping..

Hope that slowly helps you with some of your questions

if you want mate Pm and we can go over a heap of things....
