I need some info.. Went out to jump a nice 250' three leg cell phone antenna yesterday. The top had a nice triangular platform with rails. Looks really nice from the ground and I assumed there would be a hole or hinged trap door in the metal grating to access the platform. So.. up I go.

I get to the top and their appears to be no hole or "trap door". Climbed all around the under side of the platform desperately pushing up on the grating, but no luck. So.. I managed to set up a quick SL. Seemed to be the safest way to exit considering the extremely awkward stance/crouch/sit thing I was in. I was half holding on with my legs and standing on pegs, so I was shitting my pants a little. (Solo and first outside climb)

So.. my question.. how or can you access these platforms?

I'm attaching a video screen shot of the bottom and a diagram of the platform I found online. Thanks for any advice! Would make for a very nice object if only I could get on the top and relax for a minute. Thanks again!!

I'm not sure why there is no access to the top that is obvious, but those are some wicked big looking nests up top there. Make sure you dont get your eyes pecked out when those pterodactyls come back. Or do what we do, take a sacrificial jumper with you to satisfy their hunger.

Maybe it's called an 'outside' climb for a reason!

I would chalk that one up to a good experience and a new object and leave it at that.

Plenty more "A"s out there.... without the pterodactyls and shit access!

I guess my question is for other similar objects. I see a lot of triangular platforms on mono pole cell and three leg towers in the 200'-300' range. There is another I want to jump..but don't want to get stuck under the platform on a mono pole.

there are quite a few i've just had to monkey around the outside to get on. not really a big deal. just don't get scared.

Even with my climbing background that's creepy! Been living in the flat lands too long... Think I might throw on my climbing harness and grab a pair of 36" runners to back me up if I go for that one. Ballsy shit...thanks for the info!!
