Re: [base283] illogical?
It's the dynamics of the internet now, one can love it or hate it, but one still needs to cater to it. If people don't like it, they don't have to follow it - but we want to give them the option if they want it. It's easier for people to ignore a feature than it is for someone who wants it, not to have it. It doesn't have any negative affects on the site or the forum. It's just somewhere where we hope to share stuff with members of the site who use social media more than they do general sites (as many do now days)
Lots of people operate their information flow through their phones now and through social media. Many people check their 'tweets' and facebook posts constantly on their mobiles while they're at work or busy doing something or if they're just not amped to head over to the computer.
They look for tweets or posts that are interesting, that they may want to view and then they make the effort of actually going to view it.
For others, they use social media for communication. If there's problems with the site, it's a quick and easy form of communication with us to let us know.
It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea and there will be many people who just get annoyed with social networks. But for some it's become the way they operate online, and one has to move forward with developments.
