So you overstayed your visa, only got a warning from the immigration before you could leave without any consequences, and now you think you are badly treated? I don't really see why you are complaining.

Welcome to Europe!

You just went over the 90days period.

Australian, Canadian, US citizen i.e. can visit Schengen countries for 3 months max. without VISA. If you plan to stay longer, better to apply for a VISA.

But be aware, UK is not part of Schengen, and Switzerland is not part of the EU but part of Schengen.... Now, I am sure you are totally confused ;)

Anyway, you may find more info here:

Have fun and be safe,

he didn't overstay his visa, he just overstayed... or would have needed a visa (over 90 days) as explained by Jerome 2-3 posts above

plus it is 90days in any 6months period... so you couldn't go for example to the UK, North Africa etc and come back...

If you intend to stay over 90 days, get a visa Smile

Unless you have some sort of sponsored work permit or marriage rights, you usually can't stay in Europe for more than the 90 days in 6 months. If you're there for longer the authorities usually think you have been working without a work permit.

EDIT: be careful on the internet, sometimes immigration authorities might google your name.

& Now you ALL See the benefits of having a 'One world Government' for the modern BASE jumper on his/her leisure travel and on-the-go life style . Those troublesome boarder crossings with there Customs dividing countries with there obsolete false ideology of Nationalism, will all just melt away . ....Tongue

I have been going to Europe to jump since 1996.It used to be if you were in various countries it was all good.
Last year 2010 when went to leave with out warning I found out about the Schengen Agreement. The police took me to a back room and I paid a 600.00 chf fine.
I don't feel picked on,stupid or even upset and with the fun I had I don't even miss the $$$.
Fact is this is now the rule and fair enough..90 days per 180..enjoy your trip and play safe.. I had been there 119 days..

being an illegal immigrant is easy apparently. just do get caught, blend in and when you overstay your home country will never ask questions and accept you back. its usually the max alloted time (90 days/6 months) without visa within a 12 month period. after that game on again. i lived in the carribbean for over my allotted time, and i just stayed under the radar. the worst that could happen is deportation to home country with a 10 year ban from coming back. most likely they will thank you for spending your money here, send you home for that 12 month period.

Dear friend,

being under the impression you maybe misunderstood the concept of the Schengen Agreement, please consider that BEFORE Schengen, you needed different Visa for European States.

And there were Border Controls at every border, and when today you can drive from Flensburg to Jerez without showing your passport once, you would have been controlled several times BEFORE that agreement.

So I am not really getting the point. Are you complaining that you did not read your VISA conditions? Dude, check your insurances (and any other contracts): QUICK!!! Wink

And maybe look up what "your people" do to foreigners who overstay their Visa...

Greetings from good ol'Germany,
