10 Jumps and off to Switzerland
Hey I have 10 Jumps from the potato bridge, and i wanted to ask some advice on my plan for this summer.
I fell confident in my skills and i have the opportunity to go to Switzerland with a mentor but i only have 10 jumps and i want people opinions if this sounds reasonable.

Discuss with your mentor since they should know something about you as opposed to random internet strangers. Then, based on that discussion, make your choice.

If you make the wrong decision and do something beyond your ability/luck/skill level, remember that it may cost you (and those that care about you) dearly.

+1 for don't kill yourself

Actually, you did 10 jumps slider down and no slider up yet..For Switzerland one definitely needs excellent tracking skills..
Take care and think twice..

Of course this sounds reasonable, especially if your mentor thinks you have what it takes. Just remember few things :

- You need a wingsuit to be able to proxy fly. Tracking is for pussies and proxy flying is where it is at. The bigger the wingsuit = more performance = safer and better proxy flying. So get the biggest wingsuit you can get.
- Dont jump from airplanes with the wingsuit. Skydiving is lame and you cannot proxy fly from airplanes.
- Once in Switzerland go to the highest exit with the shortest hike. That is high ultimate. Higher = safer and more altitude to do sick proxy flying. Also with the 5min hike you wont burn all your energy in hiking and you're fresh for that sick proxy line down the valley. Hiking is stupid. Also with short hikes you can party hard on the Horner every night and still jump.
- Get at least 5 go pros, mount them all over your body and be prepared to post the footage to the internetz as soon as you have landed. More footage = more professional flying.

I hope this helps!

Hey mate,

i aint gonna flame ya as this is the beginners forum,

but really even though you have 10 jumps from a bridge with a huge landing area and no worries with an offheading, really dont ya think you should research the valley and wonder why it is called the death valley, if you look at the number of deaths there not including wingsuit then it will tell you that many jumpers with over 100 terminal (slider up) jumps have died here from not being on there game...of course people will tell you it will be fine you can stick with yellow ocean, but really mate, i could think of 10 different locations in the world that you could go to for your first slider up terminal jump....not only with or without the tracking gear which will either give you a massive benefit if you have skills in them (preferably 80 jumps skydiving in em)

But at the end of the day if you do go there and die...then we will see your name in the incident section and your mentor can walk away to teach someone else..

You know not only does your mentor have to think about who he mentors but the protege (student) also has to say is he the right mentor..

Good luck with your decision!!! i know what i would be doing !! which one ya think???

If you are having doubts mate, click on the signature below this and have a look at the deaths in the valley!!

read.
research.
don't be in a rush.

look at the top of the General forum. there are threads that provide guidelines to well known sites. also read the Incidents that happened in the valley. many were newbies.

if you still think it a great idea, at least you will go armed with better info.

Assuming you are not trolling here... My last post to this thread was a bit sarcastic and maybe also boosted by the feeling of being 9am in the morning after a weekend of good jumps but sad news about losing a good friend. I would say the reasonability of your plan really depends about the plan of your mentor. Is your mentor really committed to jump with you on the beginner sites? That means a lot of driving and time spent for him to do some bridges, maybe dams and some easier cliffs; stuff that in general experienced people are not travelling for to Swiss. No wingsuit jumps or bigger cliffs or any of that stuff... Or is he thinking of doing his trip and you can tag along. If your mentor is committed to do a trip for you and jump with you on the sites suitable for your experience, your plan might be reasonable. If he wants to go and do advanced jumps which are way out of your league and he thinks you might be able to do odd jump or 2 somewhere in the middle, I would say stay at home. Have an open discussion about this with your mentor and make sure you have the same view and expectations regarding the possible CH trip.

So let me see, either your wife or your girlfriend is fucking your mentor and they took out a big insurance policy on your ass! They plan on splitting the money after you try to get Radical in the Valley! Oldest trick in the book!
