Blue Cross Insurance Coverage
Hi Everyone,

Searched the threads and could only find one item related to BCBS insurance covering accidents from BASE jumping back in 2008.

I work in NYC (company is also based out of NYC) and have Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO insurance. I was wondering if any other jumpers have similar policies and if they have used them with BASE jumping injuries.

I just called my HR rep and the provider and both stated that for my medical insurance there are no exemptions of coverage on skydiving, i then asked about parachute sports in general to which they also said i am covered. Did not specifically ask about BASE jumping for the obvious reasons.

I understand best case scenario (when it comes to injuries) are those that you can talk your way around the truth but i would like to hear from anyone using Blue Cross who has had an injury where it was a known fact that it was related to BASE jumping and how your claim was handled.

Re: [Asgard] Blue Cross Insurance Coverage
I had BCBS Texas coverage when I broke my foot at Bridge Day. There was no hiding what I had done since the ambulance picked me up at the bottom of the bridge and BD was the "talk of the town" so the docs knew exactly what had happened, and I can only assume it was mentioned in the reports to the insurance. I had no problems and they covered everything I would have expected decent insurance to cover.
When asked, I always just said that I fell off a bridge!

Re: [Asgard] Blue Cross Insurance Coverage
I'm in NYC and have the exact same insurance, I believe you are correct and our insurance is sufficient and without such exclusions.
But best insurance is to not hurt yoruself Smile

Re: [Asgard] Blue Cross Insurance Coverage
It differs state to state so read all of the fine print. Blue Cross in Utah will not cover BASE Jumping. Blue cross in other states will. A friend of mine got screwed by Blue Cross for a BASE accident so be careful.
