Question for experienced WS jumpers
I am a moderately experienced WS BASE jumper and I feel like I am pretty competent at most aspects of WS BASE, but one thing I've never been all that great at is generating forward movement really quickly after exit. I have seen some WS jumpers able to start flying almost instatnly, and my attempts to emulate them have not really yielded any major improvements.

So my question is, how do you do it? Can someone explain to me in words as opposed to video what they are doing to start flying really quickly after exit?

Just fyi, my ws exits usually do not have a really hard push, but I start to "roll" forward before leaving the object and then give a moderate push to separate myself, letting the momentum of the original "roll" put me into a slightly head low position after exiting. I usually try and open all wing surfaces as quickly as I can.

Any Ideas?

Re: [tommyh] Question for experienced WS jumpers
Hi,

I haven't been on the forum for a long time and for a good reason.

I feel like addressing your question after seeing so many people going scary head low attempting to start quicker.

Some of the most advance top of the line suits are design to start quicker than your normal intermediate suit, they pressurize faster and have more surface.

The angle at wish you launch is crucial. The key is nailing an angle that you can maintain forward momentum while allowing the suit to start inflation of the wings. If you push forward you are jumping into more relative wind, therefore faster pressurization and more forward momentum.

This takes practice and tons of jumps, there is not a secret recipe; every body is different, every suit is different, every lunch is different.

I'm starting to notice some good pilots are flapping their wings after exit (Ludo, Mirko RIP). I believe they are attempting to pressurize their wings faster.

Don't focus only on this, just make your jumps. This will come eventually. hope this helps.
