never jumping again
Saw the PA after seeing my doctor this morning, he told me i'm probably never going to jump again because of a less than 20% compression fracture on my T12....i laughed at him.

So anyone who has suffered and mild to severe back injury, STOP JUMPING IMMEDIATELY....this is based on the fact that I'm pretty sure I have more medical experience than that retard I saw earlier....the actual doctor himself just said I had to take some time off to heal up before i can get back at it.

That is all...

Re: [78RATS] never jumping again
About 10 years ago, I got hammered on a rafting trip, jumped off a 45' high cliff into about 4-5' of water, compression fractur of T-12. i was in hospital for 2 days, laid up for 2 weeks, in a back brace for 2 months. 3 weeks after i broke my back, i quit school, devised a way to attach my tool belt to my back brace was siding houses. i went back to school the next spring, wrestled 3 more years in college, and have since been skydiving, basejumping, grappling, and everything else with few problems. when i stop lifting / excercising, the muscles in my back atrpohy and i can feel the injury, but as long as i stay in shape and keep some muscle in my back, im fine. I actually found out a year ago that my fracture never healed, called it a chronic fracture, and doc said as long as i stay in shape i shouldnt ever have any problems.

Ask the doctor if you can play the cello and then admit you don't know how to play the cello.

I am a PA that does spine. As long as it is just a compression fx, once it is healed (~2-3 months) it is no less strong then any other bone at that point.

Just got out of my first chiropractors appointment about an hour ago and they doc asked how I hurt my back. I told her (she's way hot.. and close to my age!) I have no idea.. which I really don't. Then she asked about what I like to do for hobbies. I had to explain what a heavy 3 second slider off delay was and she just looked at me like I was an idiot... "No wonder you have back and neck problems."

She wants me!

Fuck it.. have another appointment tomorrow at 4pm.. but the winds at 4am look good for a jump. Lets go!!

Rage Against The Dying Of The Light
Yeah, between SKY, BASE, Motocross, Martial Arts,
and being hit by a church bus while on a street bike
I can relate to all of your woes...

Broken bones include femur, patella, clavicle, calcaneus,
and basically all of the meta-carpals and meta-tarsals.

I completely agree with the idea of NOT telling medical
people the exact cause of an injury (unless of course
they are hot and you might score).

Best advice is to keep your weight down, stretch/yoga,
keep good muscle tone, last and most importantly be
constantly vigilant about your posture!!

For example, with a broken knee and thigh plus a skin
graft and ligament damage I naturally placed more of
my weight on the left leg for a long time (after using
a wheel chair, months of crutches, canes, etc.) even
now years later I have a tendency to lean left.

Part of my daily practice is to stand with my feet set
shoulder width apart, bend my knees, keep my back
straight, head over torso, and sink my body weight.

Damn!! Green, you should add collecting scary injuries to your list of extreme hobbies. Wink

Oh, BTW, don't feel bad about the church bus. It's just god's way of getting in on the action.Tongue

I compressed my L2 and L4 during a cliff strike a few years ago and had to wear a Frida Carlo backbrace for several months.

Now the only time my back acts up is when I forget to stretch, stretching is key! Core strengthening is also a good idea.

Keep jumping!
