Holla folks. I've been lurking for a few months now and I figured it's about time to do an intro.

Call me Bam - that's the nickname. I've been skydiving for three years now, or almost three years with about 250 jumps. I'm off to Perrine on Memorial Day weekend for Apex's FJC. Have a small local crew in NYC where I live but I need some experience before I can run with those dogs.

What else....been doing a lot of reading. I'm stuckin the middle of Pagen's book but learning about weather has been to-do on my hobby list. I also spend most of my weeknights practicing my BASE rig packing, and I'm down to like 25 minutes now.

Anyhoo, that's me. Just saying hello. Carry on.

I like long walks on the beach, soft jazz, and milk chocolate. I like to run with dogs too, but since I don't have one I usually just walk my chinchilla, Berry. He's a real fat ass. No, I just drink a lot and then troll the boards to entertain myself. After reading that this morning it made my hangover twice as bad. I mean, seriously, who does that?

All respect to those who do stand-up. I'm not a fan of anything that scary. I'd rather be "that guy" and sit in the crowd and heckle. Do you have any video of your stand-up? Post it in the community forum. I promise to laugh, regardless of the quality.

i have always been under the impression that you are not allowed to invent your own nickname. like reservoir dogs - everyone would want to be mr black.

When i was in college, i had a teammate named Rob who asked us to call him Ram. we refused and made fun of him - we nicknamed him the red dragon because he reminded us of the serial killer from that edward norton movie. when we finally asked where the name Ram came from, he told us that when he was a kid, he used to run his head into walls and his mother called him ram. now we call him ram. he definitely rode a short bus.

No short bus riding for me. I walked to school.

Bam was a college nickname. I think it started with Pulp Fiction and Jules' "Bad Motherfucker" wallet, which got turned into Bad Ass Mofo, then abbreviated into Bam. I suppose that's a bit arrogant around here, surrounded by badasses, but that's my story.

Anyway, the moniker followed me around BBS and random forums for the last 12 years or so. I like it. I'm keeping it. It's an identity. Plus I did an article for BSM under that name, so it's legitimate.

Back from the bridge - that was effing awesome. Seriously a life changer.

Over all, I enjoyed the Apex course. There were 8 of us so things moved slowly. I got 4 supervised jumps in 2.5 days.Anyone who was there experienced the freezing temps and hostile winds. One PCA, three 1-second delays, one downwinder, and an insane amount of fun.

It was really like starting all over again. By my last jump, I had enough awareness to take it all in, actually feel my subterminal body position.

Anyway, just checking in. Met a lot of cool people. Loved the comps at Outback. It was the beginning of the beginning.
