pilot size?
What's the purpose of choosing only a 46" PC (for example) on a low object height? It seems that a 46" non vented ZP PC is a lot of jumpers' choice on objects that are sub 300 or even 200'. Why not go with the 48" or a 52"? take too long to inflate?

Re: [rippedbx] pilot size?
Because it's overkill going any bigger.

I'll jump anything above 180ft with 46" going hand held,
>300ft is a 42" stowed for me depending on the LZ

Just my opinion.

the pc is valuable when extracting the parachute off a jumpers back.

the pc negatively impacts parachute performance. it can be a giant anchor distorting the canopy.

each jumper must balance the cost and benefit for themselves.

Its amazing how much the opening height can vary with variables being kept moderately the same.

Good article and well done on finding what you were looking for.
