Dayblazing previously burnt objects
Obviously every object has its own set of specific ins and outs but GENERALLY SPEAKING how do you jumpers out there feel about dayblazing illegal objects that are already notorious with authorities for being jumped?

At that point in an objects life is there any benefit to jumping at night other than not getting caught? We're not fooling authorities into thinking we suddenly gained respect for the law and stopped jumping and they're not exactly going to forget about us.

So what's the logic behind only jumping an object at night that's already been burnt to the ground? Is dayblazing an object that's already burnt going to ruin it for anybody else?

Ash don't burn so it doesn't matter what we do with it? Maybe an analogy involving fire is flawed...

I started jumping recently, but back home there's an object that has been jumped quite a lot in the past, getting attention in the press, etc. The owners made it harder to access and things got calm. Now, I'm jumping it. Do I climb it during the day, jump and scream with joy every inch of the way and then go back home and post very descriptive youtube videos? No. Things are calm, there's no reason to bring heat again.

If the object would be hot right now and I would like to jump it, I would try to do so with the least amount of attention. If I can jump it when it's dark, I do. An object doesn't have a shelf life, it has a certain amount of heat associated with it and if things appear calm for a while it will be easier to jump.

But generalizations are bad, assess the situation and act accordingly.

Depends how burnt is burnt, and how much scope there is for putting on added security if the owners think it neccessary. For instance if it's in a highly visible area and dayblazing could bring press attention it hasn't had before (even when owners already knew it was getting jumped), that could cause an object to get tougher.

But yeah, sometimes it just doesn't matter. There's an iconic object in my area that's been on fire since the '80s and in the news countless times, so a nice afternoon lob in the sunshine isn't going to change anything!

It does not sound like it is burned if you can still access the site jump off it in the day time, let alone the night. I don't understand why you would want to draw more attention to it. We jump at night because accessing & climbing antennas is illegal. There are a few gems out there that allow us to jump during the day, but they are few & far between. If you can still access the site & climb it during the day, why could you not do it at night? It doesn't sound all that burnt to me...

It's about not making future jumps more inconvenient. More attention tends to make sites more inconvenient. So if you're behaving morally you take reasonable precautions towards the goal of not increasing the level of base attention an illegal object gets (so future jumps are easier for everyone to enjoy and cops get to stay at the donut shop).

a few LEO's with whom I've chatted would rather avoid paperwork and hassle, but they will not tolerate disrespect. (in general, never actually discussed BASE specifically.)

with all the cameras everywhere, these guys fear being lenient and having it caught on video. they don't want to jeopardize their retirement. if you wait until they are not around... no big deal.

dayblazing CAN be seen as rubbing it people's face. offend the wrong person and they will make your life as rough as possible. it's just hard to know who will see, who will care, and who will take action.

your call.

weird, your post of full full very conflictiing statements.

"burned to the ground"=not jumpable
"jumpable at night"=jumpable

based on what you have said, you should keep jumping it under the cover of darkness ninja style. If the authorities don't know about the jumping, it's hard for them to get pissed off :)

PS. I can however sympathize with the feeling of being heartbroken because of inability to have good daytime video to post on Youtube, but I am unable to offer any useful advice on this subject...

Like I said I'm not referring to a specific object but thanks for the replies so far.

My post isn't contradictory. Your definition of a burnt object must be different from mine. Anyways what object ISN'T jumpable with enough effort and ingenuity??

depends on the politics of the local base scene and how the law enforcement look at it. night base sucks compared to day base in my opinion. hell, you might even get the object opened for legal jumps at some point. hell, we should probably all jump with legal disclaimers, etc. to show our good will that we will not sue them if things go wrong.

Re: [Tree_in_a_seed] Dayblazing previously burnt objects
A new jumper back here in Tennessee recently ventured out on his own to jump an "S" along a well traveled interstate and was standing on the railing when the local law man rolled up on them and ordered them to get off the bridge.

They complied and the copper told them that they knew the bridge was getting jumped. The cop basically told him that he could not let him jump since he was present at the time and told them to be on their way.

So, is the site burned? Or is just hot? I couldn't imagine jumping it at night as there are no lights anywhere. Imagine the cave of swallows at night?! I think if the object was 'burnt to the ground' there would be no one jumping it because of outside circumstances such as beefed up security or access was changed in a way to prevent jumpers from jumping. Even the valley still sees activity. Is it burnt to the ground?

In my own oppinion, if you day blaze an object, do it in a manner that NO ONE will see it...

I've jumped plenty of objects w/ nothing but star light...It's very enjoyable, and it's satisfing to know there is almost no possibility that someone saw you, and if they did would most people would not believe what they saw anyway. Of course if you just want attention, go to the perrine or bridge day, there are plenty of gapers there to stroke your(in the general sense) little ego...
If you actually spend some time sitting on an object at night, you'll be surprised by how much you can see.

I went outside a few nights ago. 3 others showed up at the bottom as we were preparing to exit. Two of them had VISION that was quite ILL.

Good times.
