House of Leaves - Mark Z. Danielewski. Nothing to do with BASE or anything, but it's a hell of a book if you are man enough to finish it! And I mean that, it really is a struggle to get thru, but worthwhile.

Against All Enemies by Richard Clarke is a great intro into the world before 9/11 and where Osama Bin Laden actually came from. Ghost Wars by Steve Coll is another great read.

The Alchemist is one of my favorite as well.

The People's History of the United States... A must

another off topic political book: Mein Kampf. A core of evil wrapped with layers and layers of promises of national strength and security. But this surely couldn't be compared to political figures today...
