Fox vs. Flix
I'm looking at buying a used Fox (4/7 Vtec), but it seems most people are jumping a Flix. The gear review on this site had a comment by Dwain Weston that said the FLix was better than the Fox in every way. If this is so why do people still buy the Fox? Could someone please tell me the main differences between the canopies and advatages/disadvantages? The only thing I could gather from my little research is the flix has a slightly higher aspect ratio. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I tried calling Jimmy and Marta, but they must be out having some fun and I don't want to miss my oppurtunity to buy this canopy.

Re: [bluedvl11] Fox vs. Flix
bluedvl11,

Did you try contacting Todd at Apex? All the contact I've had with the manufacturing side of Apex has been through Todd and his crew, and they've never failed to answer my questions and make sure I understood...

Cheers,

Chris

Define "better" please..... I have both canopies, maybe I can help to check which one is "better" ...

Re: [Andrezao] Fox vs. Flix
If you can tell me the differences in flight characteristics, such as glide, flare and so on that would be helpful. I'm going to be doing mostly antenna jumps 300-400 ft. Some tight landing areas, but will travel to Europe every now and again for some terminal stuff.

Fox has far superior deep-braked approaches and better sinking capabilities, the Flik has much better glide to get you where you need to go. I would recommend the Fox for jumping tight landing areas, (it's perfect for most urban jumps) and the Flik is great when you jump somewhere with landing areas that are a good distance away (i.e. Moab, where there is almost always some talus to out-fly). That being said, you can always sink the Flik into a tight spot (once you learn how to fly it) and there are also ways to squeeze more performance out of a Fox. You should definitely talk to Todd at Apex.

I asked Marta only last week which Apex canopy she'd recommend for deep brake performance. She said the Fox.
