What's your definition of "dirty low"?
That you have actually freefallen?

If you're in the <175 category, I'd be interested to know what the object was and how high.

Re: [jack79] What's your definition of "dirty low"?
dirty low=low enough to where you tailor your SD packjob specifically for that jump, and with every fold you think "WTF am I wanting to jump this object for ?" It's the jump where you don't have to raise your voice to let your groundcrew know you are jumping :)

my bet it'd be way lower than 150ft for majority of the people.

Re: [jack79] What's your definition of "dirty low"?
Did you mean freefall the object...or was SL included in that? I may have voted incorrectly if SL wasn't included as I am struggling to work up the nerve to try a sweet 200' FF...not sure I ever will try it. Oh and that particular object is a pretty forgiving span in that the landing area is wide open though I suppose that is seasonally conditional.Wink

Re:What's your definition of "dirty low"?
My local 265' free stander is my limit for now. Always hand held. As for SL, 177ft B into a sports field and managed a 10 sec canopy ride.. Still new, 30 jumps so i'm not really playing near the basement yet..

Re: [EduardoVincente] What's your definition of "dirty low"?
I meant freefall, but for the sake of discussion I'm happy to hear what everybody's SL limit is also. My local A is 236' and I have both SL and gone handheld. That thing seems low to me, but again, low is a matter of experience and perspective.

Re: [jack79] What's your definition of "dirty low"?
my lowest static line was 120ft, lowest free-fall was 220. Dirty low for me on a static line would be 100ft and free-fall 200ft, I wouldn't go lower then that on either
Shortcut
Re: [jack79] What's your definition of "dirty low"?
lowest s/l is 120 (would go to 100)
lowest freefall is 230'
Shortcut
Re: [baseknut] What's your definition of "dirty low"?
lowest FF = 230'

lowest SL = 170'

anyone ever freefall welshmans?
Shortcut
Re: [jack79] What's your definition of "dirty low"?
anything under 250' should be taken very seriously, regardless of deployment method.

look up some video of a 200' FF and decide if those margins are for you..

But that's not really "dirty low" then again? Welshmans is over 200 ft as far as I know? (Freefalled it under the impression that it is around 63m / 207ft. Please correct me if I'm mistaken :)).

Re: [maretus] What's your definition of "dirty low"?
My lowest SL is 120ft ( 3 secs canopy) and FF is 180ft (about 4 secs canopy)

Mine too. I've done that one 5 times. One of which I had a nice hesi and skimmed the talus.

I have many jumps in the 240 - 260 range and some of those are worse than Welshmans. I tend not to visit those places anymore.

I have 1 static line and 1 PCA to my name. Static line was from a 150 foot train tressel. The PCA was from a very low exit point on an an almost unknown cliff in Moab called Tombstone or something like that.

I don't consider Welshmans dirty low but it's pretty low.

What canopy are you using, and what are you loading it at?
Thanks.

Re: [jamie-the-para] What's your definition of "dirty low"?
Welshmans is also my lowest FF.......I would never do it again, FF that is yes PCA. Low solid objects are nothing to mess around with. They are sweet as hell until something goes wrong, next to no time for any corrections/reactions/thoughts/etc. If you havent seen Slim's POV footage of the low sea cliff (not sure height) he 180ed off and smashed into and are thinking of FFing low, solid shit.....look it up and watch it. There is sooooooo little time to do anything when you get into the dirty low.

FF 190
SL - Not sure... i never did laser that B but it was 120-130 region for sure. Broke myself from a 136ft static line too.

Re: [jack79] What's your definition of "dirty low"?
Oh, thought you were blurbing about deployment/delay alts. I sorted out a system that allows one to get open canopy in less than 15 feet.
Take care,

210' FF
150' S/L
Shortcut
SO0o Far...
210' FF - Antenna
190' S/L - Antenna
180' TARD - Building

My tarps are 285 and vented
so a little lower is doable with
the right object, wind, and LZ
but these altitudes are really
dicey for bigger guys/wings.
