Anyone using this form of Direct Control?
http://www.blincmagazine.com/.../direct-control-164/

I ran into this on BLiNC and did some searching but couldn't find much. I really like the concept, just wondering if anyone has put some solid jumps on it? Feedback? Thanks!

I don't have time to find, but I think this same question was asked and the author of that article chimed in.

I believe he had good things to say about, but may not have put too many jumps on it. He mentioned one downfall of losing a rubberband on every jump.

YA, that is my favorite way to influence delay openings on all Slider-up deployments .
It's the best in my opinion . & using Direct control from the Inboard -C line right to the Slider. This, And when used with combination of Delay with your Primary Stow . Will Do It All .

It has been around long time and mass # jumps from a lot of good jumpers using it .
& You do not have to lose any Rubber Bands ??? . Just Fid an Eyelet in the appropriate height & spot on the In-board C line where the Slider tops-out on the pack job . Rubber band last long Time .& Just leave the rubber band in when not doing slider-ups also .

i used it on some wingsuit jumps in brento, worked the same as any other method, i didnt notice a difference in my openings, my only problem was that my slider didnt go up high enough to my c line to have the rubber band larks-headed through the line attachment point, making it awkward. How ever Ray makes a good suggestion to solve that problem.

Just curious... what's the benefit of using this method rather then "conventional" direct control in combo with say a tailgate or tape? Everything happens at the same time?

Re: [freeflaw] Anyone using this form of Direct Control?
My understanding is with this particular setup, the control lines are released when the slider expands and begins it job. Where as with tape, the control lines are released when there is enough pressurization and tail expansion to break it loose.

After thinking about that, I'm kind of leaning towards the Tape and "Conventional" Direct Control. More of a mental thing for me, I can't imagine such a subtle change would render any real noticeable results. There are just too many variables involved with each deployment. I haven't used any form of "Tailgate" or Direct Control on my SU packs and they've been fine... so far. Guess I'll give this a shot then the tape route, or not change anything at all Smile.

I think a tape-gate with SU is a good idea to prevent line overs.
Jean-Noel of Adrenaline Base uses the method you linked to and has over a thousand SU jumps without a line over.
