NORCAL LOCALS/VISITORS PLEASE READ!
A very well known object that many jump and pass through to jump is undergoing a huge amount of construction. There are large steel cables that have been strung all over the object, including very close to the normal exit. If you jump at night, please be VERY aware of these as they are all over the place and could definitely lead to serious bodily injury or death if struck in freefall or even walked into on the way out. Stay safe out there.

This has nothing to do with Charlie's Post. His post is correct. Headups if you go out there. Take a day time look prior to jumping. Shit changes weekly with the construction. But since i got norcal jumpers looking at this thread, i feel the need.

His post made me remember something that has been buggin' me for some time now with our NorCal crew.

The best way to avoid the construction is to avoid the object! Give it a break for once! There are so many other things out there to jump. There are still so many objects to find, scout, and open. If all the local jumpers spent the same amount of time trying to find new objects as they do Raping this one, then we would have 10 new objects a month.

What ever happened to pro active base jumping. And i dont mean trying a new aerial ever 3rd jump. It seems like everytime i turn around there are more and more "locals", which is great i guess! But most seem to be very lazy. They never have an issue or hesitate jumping a new object, but they dont want to put the work in to find, scout, and open one. They just want it given to them. Now this is not all, but it sure seems to be the great majority.

Stop being lazy and go out there and find something new to jump. Lets build a new arsenal of objects. There is no reason why northern cali cant have 10 new objects to jump by the end of the year. Lets work together, share ideas, plan some backcountry scouting trips and make shit happen.

Because if we dont, nothing good is gonna happen. We'll just keep jumping the same old shit until we get board of it or burn it, either way, with more and more jumpers every month, all we do is over jump and over crowd the objects. Waiting till then to find new objects aint good enough.

.

I don't think this is a Norcal issue, we have exactly the same in the UK, there are a handful of jumpers opening new objects but the majority rely on 4 or 5 long established objects. One has just been lost because the new boys thought it was there god given right to jump it, day or night and 8+ jumpers on a load. It has been getting jumped for 20+ years without any issues until now.
If we were to burn the remaining 3 or 4 main objects in the South of England 90% of UK jumping would STOP!!!

Now there's an idea.............

+1 for Colorado.

Opening new objects sucks because you spend weekends driving and hiking and scouting and NOT JUMPING. If the base population grows, the number of jumpable objects has to grow at least a little bit, otherwise shit gets crowded and burned.

+1. I have opened 4 objects in my first year (so far) and totally agree. That's one of my favorite things about BASE.... hiking, finding new objects, lasering shit, using sat. imagery.... yeah, jumping already found and jumped objects is fun and inevitable but there is something about going out, either alone or with your friends, finding new and exciting objects and trying them out. and there are probably countless ones out there......

There is nothing left in Colorado. I already looked. Stop trying! If they find what we have, then there will really be nothing left :) Plus, it is not like Brenden will give us permission to jump his objects anyway.

I'm due for a visit. I just put new tires and brakes on my vehicle so it's safe to drive farther than my roadside tow service is willing to tow for free. It's been too long so I'm down if you are.

Who are you? You should fill out your profile a little bit.

If you think you are gonna go around Sacramento and open a bunch of objects you are sadly mistaken. Most everything has been jumped already. If you know the history of base jumping in the Norcal area, you should realize that if its big enough to jump, its been jumped already.

RAMBO!

planning on a sunrise jump at Auburn Foresthill bridge when i get back. Want to come along. I hope to be back to the car by 8 AM so as to make first load at the parachute center in LODI.

Given that the bridge is off the FOresthill exit, just south of HWY 80, it should be easy to make it all happen in a timely fashion.

Please scout all the particulars so that I do not have to do any tedious research.

Thanks a lot!

Hey Slambo, remember that time last week when we smoked crack in the Raley's parking lot, told everyone we were JT and Charlie, made out, and did triple session unpacked day blaze loads? That was fun.
