Help! Stuck in the Fla Keys with a rig!
Who's the closest jumper with an object that wants me to bless them with my presence?

You too could have 887 in the house!

concentrate on relaxing, or fishing or drinking, or diving, or sailing, or any combination thereof.

hell do'em all at the same time, your in the keys.

the base rig however, is pretty worthless down there..

Just got back from there! Which Key are you on? I spotted a few decent objects sailing through the Keys last week but had failed to take my rig with me.

Don't know about locals, but there are towers all through the keys...

PM me: BLiNC and I can send you a file with all the locations...

I was just there in January. There are towers, some are doable, but nothing that really made me wish I had a rig. But fuck the Keys are awesome! I could go for some Conch fritters and a lobster ruben sandwich right now. mmmmmmmmm

Hey man, if the water is 72 or better, get a mask and snorkel and go for it. However, as far as BASE jumps in the Keys, one night in 1990, my brother Randy, Rick Payne and Joy and I were in Marathon Key fishing with a friend. After a full day of partying, the idea of the 300' freestander came up just about midnight. I went to bed, Randy and Payne went and did it. Both caught the outside climbing pegs with their front left end cells coming back from over the water, between trees and the tower. Both tore their end cells but landed OK. One other story from the same era, my brother had a young BASE jumper out at the reef on his sail boat where he used to live. They were going to climb and jump the 140' steel structure lighthouse marking Sombrero Key Reef, about 6 miles off shore from Marathon. We used to snorkel there. Well, Randy's rig opened before they got in the dinghy, but the young guy from Iowa, climbed the structure at dusk, jumped and landed fine in the water. Randy yelled from his boat that he should go ahead and swim back since he wouldn't want to know what's swimming around his feet on the reef at dusk. Anyway, so if you want to combine the best of the Keys, eat lobster or stone crab, rent a boat, go out to Sombrero lighthouse and make a BASE jump, then snorkel. Have fun.

true story about the lighthouse jump 140' & had to run downhill to the edge

In about 1990 or so when I was working at the US Attorney's in Miami, my brother Randy lived on a sailboat at Boot Key Harbor in Marathon. I wasn't with them the weekend of the lighthouse jump, but it looks more like a cell tower since it's 6 miles off shore east of Marathon. It marks the reef. Randy and a young BASE jumper from Iowa were going to anchor the boat, use the dinghy to pick them up. On the way onto the tower, Randy's canopy dumped so the other guy did go up and make a jump. It is about 140' and he landed in about 5 foot of water over the reef right at sunset. Randy was in the dinghy and told him that he might want to get in since he didn't know what was swimming around him at dusk at the edge of the reef. Big shark feeding ground. Anyway, it was funny and a true story.
