can you purchase it anywhere else by the yard instead of a 500 yard roll? (besides from my local rigger)

That's the stuff alright. I believe Apex sells 10 yards for $10. There was also a guy on here that was selling as much as you want for $1/yd. I bought some from him a while back, I'll see if I can dig up his email for you and PM it.

Apex definitely sells it in smaller quantities than 500 yards...

The 500yd spool costs you $64.50 + postage where the manfucturers tend to charge 1$ per yard. So why don't you just order a spool from paragear and split it with your 3 best mates and you have all the break cord you need for the next 10 years of SL jumps with a cost of 25 bucks?

Also works great for auto-erotic asphyxiation. Just be sure to stand on a stool or chair high enough so when you pass out your falling force will exceed the 80lbs rate. (Then of course there is the age old argument of the loop vs the two knot strand.)

I hear he did but he made a loop and thus doubling the break force needed

one more question, has anybody heard of something called like "leech" cord, or leech tape, or something along those lines? i believe the breaking strength is around 200 lbs. or so............
