Offer to ground crew in UK
Hello all,

I’m recently back home from my FBJC with Apex BASE at Perrine Bridge. A fantastic few days despite the immense cold! Managed 4 jumps, 2 PCA’d and 2 HH. Currently saving for a rig and second visit to the Bridge to meet the Apex guys again, pick up my rig and jump. I’m a long way off jumping anything here in the UK.

In the meantime though, I’d like to offer my services as ground crew. I’m based in SW London but happy to travel. Hopefully this will help out some locals but also be a great learning opportunity for me.

PM me if you are interested and I can give you more details of my background and hopefully convince you I’m not a cop or a journo.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

There is http://www.basejumper.org/ but the site is "undergoing a major revamp" at the moment so thought I'd post here first.

There does however appear to be activity on their forum.

He did mention the words immense, cold and FJC together. It might have been VERY COLD;-0

I walk the rim fairly regular. Do you enjoy hiigh winds? That's how it's been much too often in the last month or so.

Sounds like the kind of FJC where "safety" might be considered more important than "numbers". Weird...

Hey Bro,

Yeah i bet it must be a cold time to jump out there!

Why do you say after your FJC you feel you are way off jumping anything in the UK? (sorry to be nosie)

When i did my fjc with apex they told us all to jump as soon as we can so we would be more fresh/current.

I did my first ground crew the other day as i had never jumped at night before and found i learnt alot so your doing the right thing :)

Hey Jay,

Cold isn't the word! Didn't get above -6C (20F) one day!

I just think with my skydiving experience and only 4 jumps from such a forgiving object I would like to keep to similar objects for now. Don't know the UK scene yet, are there are any suitable Ss???

Thanks, and hope to bump into you sometime.

Yeah not rushing yourself is never going to be a bad idea.

I would have thought after doing a fjc you should be at a stage where you would be ready to jump some of the objects we have in the UK.

I really am not the right person to give any advise on your ability though as i am very inexperienced and know nothing about the four jumps you have done and how you did.

What i would really recommend to you though is to have a chat with some experienced jumpers about what you learnt on the course and how you feel you did with exits ect.. and go from there.

I dont know of any high S to jump with good landing areas but any experienced jumper would prob know.

I will drop a guy a message about you with your details who is one of the uks most experienced base jumpers and who helped me with advise after my fjc.
