Hey all, I haven't bought a pair of mountaineering boots yet, so I've been jumping in my Hanwags that I use for working as an EMT. They're great angle support, tread, etc... but I recently made a few jumps into (and then hiked out in) some really wet snow. I'm at work this week, and I'm pretty sure they've shrunk! Makes sense, as they're leather. I should have known better but I guess I figured they'd be treated a bit better to resist this sort of thing. Does anyone have any idea as to how to "un-shrink" them? Thanks in advance.

get them wet again and stick another shoe inside to stretch it out.

Just a guess:

Put on a couple pairs of socks,
dunk Hanwags into hot water
then put them on and wear
until they are mostly dry.

What I have learned on wiki is that contrary to what you might think, it' not the boot who shrink, it's probably your feet which have got bigger do to long exposure to wet conditions.
Try to dry out your feet with a hair drier during 2 to 3 hours on a medium level and you will see, your hanwags will fit like gloves again!

I think I'll try the multiple sock method, sounds like it might work. Thanks Tom.

I found that putting my feet into a freezer for a couple of hours makes Hanwags fit like a glove. I no longer feel any discomfort and my stinky feet smell frosty fresh.
