FJC in Europe (to suit my work holiday schedule)
Hi all,

Would anyone have information about a reputed FJC in Europe around the dates of June 1 - 12, or July 25 - Aug 18?

I'm limited with dates due to pre-scheduled holiday/vacation time with my employer as indicated above. I'm a relatively experienced skydiver (650+ jumps) with a keen interest in BASE. I've been interested for numerous years, but never had the opportunity to attend a FJC. I want to have the best education possible to have the best possible survival skills to enjoy this sport for many years to come.

Under the advice from my peers (thanks Guys) I have purchased my own BASE gear suitable to my weight & interests in BASE (DP rig, vented canopy, etc. for terminal/wingsuit jumps way in the future). However I'm not a "death camp" BASE jumper & I won't attempt such without first attending a good FJC. So if anyone out there can recommend a good FJC, or indeed could facilitate my holiday/vacation schedule then please share the info?

Thanks all & safe jumping....

Liam.

Mate ,

we run a base course in kjerag every sat from june- end of aug check here..

http://www.basekjerag.com/...05A6E25?OpenDocument

if its the guys i think have told you in ireland then they know the area quite well one even always gets rescued the night before heliboogie every year Tongue

If you wanted to get the most out of your experience here i would look at the last dates you entered as that amount of time would help you and get the most amount of your jumping experience ..as well as meeting other likeminded jumpers..

Please remember the FJC in kjerag is kjerag (big walls over 2000 feet) specific the experience you gain here will not help you survive swiss walls that comes with longevity and skills..

we have a fjc on the 30th of june and 6th of august ..

I had a great time doing the the FJC in Kjerag last year around those dates. Managed 15 jumps and learnt a lot but as Patto said it is big wall specific and so I had to do a lot of learning before doing the low stuff back in the UK but I am getting there. If you can do it I highly recommend it as it is an awesome place to do your first jump.

PS dont listen to Patto he is MAD Laugh

Cheers for the reply MBA-PATTO,

Yeah, that sounds very interesting. Ultimately it's the big wall terminal jumps that I aspire to do, eventually to wingsuit off (one day in the future). Although the lower, slider-down objects interest me too. It's all ahead of me Smile

The Irish lads rave about the Norweigen Fjords & I've seen the footage that they bring home, so it's definitely a viable option, especially with accommodating dates! Cheers for the info.

p.s. I'll have to find out about the one guy who needs rescuing before the heliboogie? Sounds like a good story Wink

Cheers for your reply flusspirat,

I've been in contact with pressurized since the end of last year regarding their FJC (10-day comprehensive course) that includes slider up & slider down jumps. Unfortunately they are only conducting 1 course this year, in September. As my holiday/vacation time from work is pre-determined for the dates as mentioned in the initial posting, there is no way I could get the time off work to attend their course Frown

It's all good, as with the reponse that this posting has generated (postings, pm's, etc.) there's hope for an FJC around my holiday schedule. I appreciate your & everyone's input. Please keep the info coming.. Cheers....

Hi UWMA,

I made enquiries via 321base, unfortunately their dates didn't suit my schedule either (courses up to May, then no courses until September). Cheers for the feedback, appreciated...

Thank you all for the replies & for the PM's regarding my request.

BASE School Italia (www.baseschool.it/) can accommodate my schedule, so I've committed to their 8-Day complete course, which includes both slider-down & slider-up jump preparation.

Bring on my June holiday/vacation time... Wink

Awesome man! Glad you worked something out.

I am worried though, if you are breaking bones doing ground crew who knows what will happen on your first jump!

Kidding. Best of luck.

Thanks to All for the feedback & PM's. All of the courses look pretty decent, though the course I'm signed up for offers everything that I'm looking for in an FJC.

Safe jumping Tongue
