Really? Is Potter paying you to write this?

Jon may or may not have a logbook but he really went to Ireland with perhaps five BASE jumps. You know he admittedly to having a hundred back in November? That is impressive considering he did his first Static Line in June.

Ask him about his last US jump just before the trip. PM me for the story.

Jon has asked for advice on this site but unfortunately spew his endless web of lies in the process. He has lied to every DZ and BASE jumper he has encountered and you are no different. This is the type of person who lied on a BASE application just to get a number. He is “self-taught” because nobody wants anything to do with the lying talentless hack. He is also too stupid, arrogant and lazy to take a FJC.

I wish no harm to come to any person but his brain is wired wrong and he is headed down a bad path. I am tired of talking about this ahole

I understand you have a personal vendetta against me, and rightfully so. I don't know what you want from me, but it seems like you want to burn me at the stake, so here it is.

I am sorry for my lies. I did not have any ill will with them. I honestly don't know what I was thinking. Part of me wanted to fit in with the base community which I idolized. I guess I thought getting a base number was the way to do so, and I would stop at nothing to get that. I truly am sorry that my lies hurt you on a personal level, which it appears they have. And I am sorry to the base community for taking advantage of the honor system that is in place for getting a number. I know my credibility is gone, which I am ok with. I did lie about doing certain jumps to try to get the number, and I did tell people I had 100 base jumps in order to seem more experienced than I was. Again, I did not feel this was a big deal, and I was wrong. In terms of lying about skydiving experience in order to wingsuit, I was never asked. I did not outright lie to the DZO like you are saying. I showed up, jumped the wingsuit, and that was it. But maybe it's all the same.

I did not pay Damien to say any of this, but I am grateful he did, and even moreso am grateful of his and the other local's help and hospitality they have shown during my stay, as well as giving me the chance to prove I am not a complete asshole. I hope someday other jumpers may follow suit, as even despite the bad press (whether some of it true and some not) I don't think I am that bad of guy.

Lastly, although I deserve much of your criticism and hatred, I find it funny, Randy, that you think you know my number of jumps, almost as if you watch me 24/7. Also, there is no need to dangle any story above my head like I am trying to hide it. I simply ask that you get the facts straight, as you weren't there, no matter how much you are trying to pretend you were.

Dude,

I met you. And I can write a nice long paragraph of my impressions.

you are the guy who was so infatuated with BASE, that when I asked you about meeting Moe Villetto you said "oh, I think he is one of the packers, right" ?

YOU FUCKING THOUGHT MOE WAS A WORTHLESS PACKER AT THE DZ. Just shows the amount of research you really put into the whole thing.

Do I need to say more ?

first, I believe people should be given a chance to climb out of the holes they have dug.

second, it seems that you are trying to apologize. it is a good start.

however, it seems odd that you admit to lying, then ask another to check their facts... you can't really control or demand of another. who can? at best, anyone can hope to control themselves. it is better to set the example, and hope it will influence others.

you set a very bad example. (the sense of community will totally fall apart if no one could trust another jumper. enough drama exists without lies!.) if you've learned, you can redeem yourself and set a better example. it's not about anyone else. it's all under your control.

[and this applies to us all Smile]

Re: [cheekybastard] CheekyBastard!
Cheeky,

In an activity of life and death, such as Base, Trust of your fellow jumpers is crucial. You should be able to Trust one another from start to finish. From verbal words to physical actions. Lying, no matter how small or even if only once, is the quickest way to loose that trust.

It takes years to build a good reputation, and only 5 minutes to ruin it!

Walk and speak softly little grasshopper.

If you want a fair chance at redeeming your reputation, its a classic 3 step process:

1. Apologize (like you just did)

2. Shut the fuck up. (Be seen, not heard!)

3. Start operating in a trustworthy manner. (under you local crews ethical guidelines)

In time, (note, it could be a long time) your actions will speak louder then words. Cause your not speaking remember. And then, People will forgive.

Just a piece of Advise.

I was referring to Randy PMing people telling an inaccurate version of a story he heard, as well as pretending to know exactly how many jumps I have. Like I said, much of what he said about me was true, but there is some that isn't. I simply ask that he, or anyone else, doesn't take assumptions and turn them into facts.

At any rate, I am truly sorry again. I hope to redeem myself one day by proceeding in an honorable and honest manor. See you at the exit point.

Re: [cheekybastard] CheekyBastard!
all i can say is:

some people choose to get a number, and some people create certain stipulations for themselves to get a number (example: i freefell all mine before I applied). But all put forth the time, effort and balls to get the jumps.

From experience, lying and deceit get you nowhere... but forging your application and experience to Rick and Joy...just wow.

Redeming yourself starts now with building friendships and good times with great people. Learn the proper methods and be honest. People died to teach you lessons. Learn them and listen to the people that teach them to you.

Im not one to take to heart what other people do or decide. But your decision to fake your application takes away a little bit from what I worked so hard for to earn.

Im sure you are a nice guy, but a poor path is paved with good intentions. Turn it around and begin your redemption. I for one suggest that you contact the two nicest people in our community (Rick and Joy Harrison) and apologize and explain your wrong doings. That will be the first step in my opinion.

take care,
jake

From experience, lying and deceit get you nowhere...

Solid words Jake! And I think you redeemed
yourself the same way Chris Hall suggested.

As for any douche bag cheating their way into an
unearned BASE number: sad, weak, and pointless!

But it does NOT in any way take away from MY own
amazing journey & 100+ BASE jumps it took me.

False numbers, be them online or in your logbook,
do not help you on any SKY or BASE jump. Honestly
how someone behaves and handles themself on a
jump is sooo much more important.

I have been on a few easy antennas with guys who
said they had anywhere between 10 and 100 BASE
jumps who were freaking out, and some not in the
funny ha ha way either.

Hard to fake experience in real life/death situations.

Re: [smak] CheekyBastard!
Before i left my last company (im in construction) we got a new CEO who used to ramble on and on about homw many millions of square feet he built in this area or that - evverything from military bases and oil refineries in the middle east, to colleges in connecticuit, to his grandfater who built the empire state building. he also claimed to have owned a submarine (the actual one from indiana jones) and turned down a position as the new administration's chief security advisor to run our company (he actually left the office for 2 days and came back claiming to have been seated next to the secretary of state at the white house correspondence dinner).

But everything went back to how many squarte feet he built - we actually started using "millions of sf" as standards for measuring everything around the office from photocopies to lunch time to the size of the secretary's tits.

The ceo turned out to be a complete fraud who conned his way in to the position with the help of some friends who gave him references (also conmen, who were given high paying jobs at our company once the ceo came on). That company went bankrupt 18 months after he took over. fortunately, i left 2 months after the new guy showed up, with my former boss, who i trusted and have had a relationship with for a long time, and we are doing well.

nobody gives a shit how many millions of square feet you've built - and for that matter, nobody i've met really gives a shit how many base jumps you have.
