Important - Famous jump Sputnik "the crack" in Switzerland
The swiss police and rescue force needs our help.
Three independent persons observed someone crashing into the lake next to the landing area (Walensee) of the jump Sputnik, also known as "the crack" last Sunday, the 10th of January, around noon.
If you have any information, please contact me on my mail:
michibase at gmail dot com if you know of someone who jumped there or if someone is missing who knows where the exit of the jump is.
Thanks,
Michi (SBA)

I've made this sticky. I'll take it down if notified that someone offers up appropriate information, or after a week or two.

it would suck to have a missing jumper!

Is there any paragliding in the area? Many non-jumpers mistake a paraglider for a parachute, and vice versa.

There is a lot of paragliding in the area but the police have checked with the local paraqliding club that nobody has been reported missing. Not that it would mean that it could not still be a paraglider but this possibility has been also taken into account by the authorities.

Any news? I met some of the local paragliders today. according to them the witnesses reported about a paraglider and not a parachute. the instructor of that paragliding school doesn't believe in the whole thing, since according to him a paraglider would take more than an hour to sink and nothting was found there, and nobody (no paraglider) is being missed..

I got an information of local mountain guide who was at the exit on the 10th of January. He checked the book which is located at the exit (summit log) and did not find any entrys of jumpers.
He also mentioned it was probably to windy on that day to jump.
I think we can be pretty sure now that it was not a base jumper who crashed into the lake.
I think we can unsticky this post now :-)
thanks,
Michi
