Just curious what the average cost per jump is. I calculated mine (cost of gas, estimated gear depreciation, and other expenses) and got 25-30.

And I am talking about an average jump. Not including hospital bills, or airfare, or anything out of the ordinary. Use the object you jump the most as the standard for the poll

For the gear depreciation, I calculated what my gear cost brand new, and what I could reasonably sell it for with 100 jumps on it, and divided the difference by 100.

A trip to my local A is about 25 mins each way.. So less than $10 for gas and say gear is another $10. All and all under 20 bucks and just under 2 hours from door to door.

Now that I got a decent number of poll votes, I'm curious how people are paying 90 plus dollars per jump?

Do you include food, and drinks (gatorade for a hike, beer after)?
4 dollars in gas, 1.50 for a gatorade. My canopy doesnt depreciate, its a new anti-depreciation prototype.

I did in mine... minus the beer after because I only do morning jumps and have to go to work after. aha

I guess people are drinking loads of beer post-jump.

For a lot of people an 'average' jump does involve an airfare or an expedition.

I've got a lot more jumps abroad than I do in my own country.

Maybe a dollar for gas.... i bring my own water bottle and not including gear depreciation! 30 cents a jump if i pack there! :)

The object is about a 4 minute drive from my house

More interesting would be what was the most you spent to get one jump...

Sad day for the numbers but don't worry..

I know multiple people who have spent $2500 plus the cost of their gear for one jump... damn you NPS.

depends on the season.

latespring-early fall
$10 in bridge toll, $8 in gas 1.5 hours D2D, 1 object (a lot of others are just a bit further)

late fall- early spring
$3 in gas, maybe. Multile objests. chance of bust high. living in a city, awesome, sometimes.

$30,000+ in medical bills is not uncommon
plus lost job

Depends on the season for me as well.

Spring-Fall......$10-20 for gas and beer

Winter......$70-100 bucks (share of gas, beer, redbull, food) and 4.5 hour drive to an object. Usually for more than one jump though.

In addition to the poll, post your most expensive jump total. (Hospital bill, legal fees, ect..)

Its called medical insurance. Its expensive, but not nearly as, medical DEBT. If you are jumping yu should be insured.

I also remember several collections taken to help out well known jumpers who were not.

I like flying (which I have time for) to distant objects and jumping instead of not driving (which I don't) and not jumping. I like driving to somewhat distant objects for a morning jump the night before and getting a good night's sleep in a hotel (followed by morning sex if I brought my wife) instead of dragging my butt out of bed and incurring sleep deficit. I also prefer taking chartered helicopters to and from exit points over hiking expeditions.

As long as you're including your transportation costs, I think it's reasonable to include mine. I'd guess other people did the same, especially those too weak to swim the Atlantic for European big-wall action.
